Hi I'm Brittany

I am from Washington state. I'm a dancer and a social worker. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently going to school to get my master's degree in Social Work. When I graduate I want to work with either current military members and their families, or in mental health. I received my bachelor's degree in Social Work with a minor in Dance Performance. I am sandwiched between two amazing brothers. I grew up on a mountain in Washington. I also have the incredible opportunity of being able to serve as a missionary in Denmark.

Why I am a Mormon

From the time I was 9 years old (when my family was introduced to the gospel) I knew that the church was true. I had never questioned it. I remember very clearly the moment that my knowledge of the truth turned into a testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ - I was 14. I was sitting in the temple in October of that year and had just had an incredibly difficult summer. Things in my family were rough, all of my best friends had just moved and I felt that I did not have anyone to turn to. The church at the time was taking up much of my time and energy - both things I did not have much of. It was at this point that I decided that I needed to know now if it was true, or not, and if it was worth fighting for, or not. I sat there on the bench waiting for my turn and prayed - prayed to know if it was true, to know if this was what He wanted me to be doing, if this was something that He wanted me to fight for. No sooner had I said amen than a friend - who had no idea the struggles I was going through - leaned over to me and said, "I don't know why, but I feel like I need to bear my testimony to you." This was the moment I knew. We were in a place that whispering is not appropriate, she had no idea of what I was going through, and she just happened to be sitting next to me. I knew that none of this was chance and that this was all due to Heavenly Father being aware of me and what I needed. I felt incredibly loved and cared for and knew immediately that even though things were hard, they would get better. And if I relied on Him more that I would be able to handle much better all of the things that were going on. I also came to the realization that this was my answer not just for now, or for a year, but for eternity. This was the pattern that my life needed to take on. Since that moment I have never wavered, or questioned it. Life still has it's struggles, things are not always easy, but I have made it through every single trial and have been so completely happy!!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by simply doing the things that Heavenly Father has asked me to do - I go to the temple, read my scriptures, and pray. I try to be an example to those around me and simply love all those that I come into contact with. I am able to serve as a teacher in my ward and have for a few years. Living the gospel also means developing all of your talents - something that I try to do through my education and eventual career. I also have the opportunity to be a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Denmark - a calling that I am VERY excited to be able to fulfill!
