Hi I'm Chessa Heap

I'm a Mormon. I thrive in Bozeman Montana, where my family lives. I am 19 and going on a mission to Mesa Arizona.

About Me

I am 19 years old and I am stuck on what I want to go to school for. I work at the hospital as the cafeteria worker and I come in contact with the greatest and the worst people. A month after the announcement that the missionary age had been lowered I turned in my papers and am now going to serve in the Mesa Arizona Mission. My family is so supportive. I am an aunt to 3 nieces and 3 nephews and one on the way. All 3 of my siblings are married and have kids so I feel a bit behind but there is a reason for everything. My parents are probably the coolest people I know. They are hard working and taught me good values through the gospel. I enjoy being in the mountains, whether its hunting, fishing, or hiking I am in to it. I like to be active always. I don't like it when people say they are bored because if your creative enough you can always find something to do. I have the decision after my mission to go to school. The two options I have narrowed it down to is either dental hygiene or massage therapy. At least I have a year and a half to figure it out. I am so excited to serve the Lord and serve the people of Arizona. I already love them!

Why I am a Mormon

I have had many friends ask me, "Are you gonna stop being Mormon once your out of the house?" I never really realized the main reason my friends thought I was so weird for following my faith so closely was because they thought my parents were tyrants who forced a way of life upon me. It would always surprise them when I said that I would continue my way of life. I have even had friends think its the only life I have known so I had no choice. The reality is I am Mormon because I love the gospel. And yes my parents instilled a lot of the principles in me but I realized at a young age that I am my own person. So I have had a period of my life that I wasn't the best example of an LDS member but I had to figure out some how that this gospel is true and right. I am a Mormon because I get to be with my family for eternity. I will never stop being grateful for that principle of the gospel. It encourages me to be more Christ-like everyday and in return makes me a happier person, and it spreads like wild fire.

How I live my faith

My faith brings me joy so naturally I try and practice it as well as I can. Of course no one is perfect and everyone struggles with going to church, reading the scriptures, and communicating with our Heavenly Father through prayer. But even those aren't enough sometimes. You have to remind your self of the "why". I go to church to be reminded of the principles of my faith and to feel the spirit of other members. I read my scriptures to gain knowledge of Him and His love for me though his teachings and the teachings of His prophets. I pray to confide in Him, and to get to know Him. I have not yet scratched the surface of what is required in my own personal worship but I am grateful I have the knowledge of what is required and I learn everyday.
