Hi I'm Jon

I grew up immersed in technology. I'm a fixaholic. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 22 years old. I have graduated with a degree in Electrical Automation and Robotics Technology. I love to take things apart and figure out how they work. I love to learn. I love the summer. My favorite things to do are to swim, bike, and hike. I grew up swimming and riding my bike. I am an Eagle Scout and have been on two 50-mile hikes as a teenager. I am a computer guy. I have been on computers since I was less than 10 years old. I absolutely love technology and all of its wonders. I love my friends. I love to talk to friendly people. I will talk your ear off if you're interested in what I have to say. That's pretty much me.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a Mormon. That doesn't mean that I always wanted to be one though. I didn't grow up surrounded by LDS church members. I grew up with friends from all types of social circles. When I was a teenager, I stopped going to church. I still believed in the gospel, but my heart wasn't in it. When I was 20 years old, we moved to an LDS community in Utah. I began attending church again with my mother and was asked to be a leader in the Boy Scout program. I loved the scout program, so I kept coming to church. The next summer my life changed. I met a friend who helped me turn my life around. It was a difficult path for me, but through a lot of prayer and study I made it through. I realized that this church is the best thing that has ever happened to me. After I cleaned up my life and started living by the teachings of our church, my life became infinitely better. I often feel as though I'm on top of the world, and nothing can get me down. I can easily see the blessings in my life, and I know they have increased exponentially since I started attending church again. I have gained a personal testimony that Jesus Christ lives, and he is our savior. I know that my prayers are heard and answered. I know this gospel is true. I love the church. I love the Lord. That's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I am a Boy Scout leader in my church. I work with the Varsity Scouts (14-16). I love teaching the boys how to be better people and how to be good examples to those around them. I try to be their friend and teach them things I was taught or wish I was taught when I was their age. As their leader I also help them with their Sunday activities. I try to teach them by example. My Boy Scout leaders were like fathers to me and taught me many important life skills. My work with them will hopefully one day produce individuals who are trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, and kind.

What is being a Mormon like?

Jon
Being a Mormon is the best part of my life. The feeling I get when I go to church is one of peace and happiness. It's like that Christmas feeling but every time you go to church. When I live my life according to the teachings of this gospel, my life is great. I can literally see the blessings I receive by living my life right. People sometimes think Mormons are strange, and that becoming a Mormon would make them strange as well. The truth is, Mormons are just normal people. The only difference is their standards. Mormons typically live by higher standards than the average person, but other than that we're perfectly normal human beings. Show more Show less
