Hi I'm Rex

I grew up in San Luis Obispo, CA. I am a mormon who joined the church at age 25. My life is really different now.

About Me

I am a 71 year old widower who joined the Church at age 25. I am an accountant currently employed as a CFO for a large commercial construction company in Northern California. I enjoy playing golf, skiing, camping (5th wheel) and fishing. I also enjoy watching many sports events including those my grandsons play in.

Why I am a Mormon

I was introduced to the Church by a co-worker and her husband, who invited me to participate in family and church activities. As we became closer friends, it was natural for them to invite me to attend church with them. After attending for a few times, they asked if I would like to talk with the missionaries and learn more about the church. After a couple of meetings with the missionaries, they challenged me to pray to know if the things they were teaching and the things I was reading in the Book of Mormon were true. I accepted their challenge, retiring to a private place I knelt in prayer and asked Heavenly Father if these things were true. I received an immediate answer to my prayer as a flood of warmth followed by a chill went from my head to my toes. I knew from that moment on that Joseph Smith was a prophet, that he restored the Book of Mormon under the direction of God and Jesus Christ, and that it is truly a second testimony that Jesus is the Christ. l knew that God knew that I knew these things were true and because of that I chose to join the Church and have been actively involved ever since.

How I live my faith

I have been actively involved with the youth since joining the Church. My richest rewards have come from taking a sincere interest in the young people I have come to love. While I have four children, I also have many "Church kids" who still stay in touch even though they are now adults. I have served in many leadership positions. I currently serve in a leadership position which allows me to advise and counsel with the leaders of one of our local Church units.
