Hi I'm Caitlin

I'm an avid sushi lover. I have a passion for words. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a college student studying linguistics and editing. I'm pretty sure I want to work for a publishing company, though I'm also open to magazine editing. I learned French while living on a French island for 13 months and love the French island people and their culture. I love to read and am currently reading "Man's Search for Meaning" by Viktor Frankl--this man's story is incredible. My ideal meal consists of sushi followed by frozen yogurt and when I "grow up" I will own either a frozen yogurt machine or a frozen yogurt store. Cello is the best instrument ever--I started playing when I was five and love playing in orchestras or with my family. Scrabble is one of my favorite games, though I'll play almost any game with friends and family. I have waaaaay too many shoes. I want to travel. To have a puppy. To be in love. To adopt. To have a garden. To live simply and beautifully.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was raised as a Mormon, it was important to me that I find out for myself if the Church was true. I wanted to have my own testimony, one independent of the testimonies of others. I studied the scriptures, the Book of Mormon and the Bible, and prayed to our Heavenly Father. I never had a dream or heard a voice telling me that the Church is true, but I know as sure as anyone who has had these experiences that the Church is true. Each time I read the scriptures and pray, I feel a peace and a comfort telling me that these things are good and, more importantly, true. And the thing about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is that it is ALL true--every bit of it. There are good and true and beautiful things in all religions found on the earth, but the fullness of Christ's gospel--the gospel He taught while on the earth--is found in only one church, the church that was restored to the earth through the prophet Joseph Smith. I love this church! I know it is true. I am grateful for the opportunities for repentance and forgiveness that Christ offers to me, and the chance that I have to change and be better every day--because Christ lived, died, and lives again.

How I live my faith

I love going to church every Sunday because it's a time when I can forget things that may be stressing me out from school or work and re-focus on what truly matters most--the gospel of Jesus Christ. It's an opportunity for me to start a fresh new week, one centered on the Savior. At church I volunteer as the co-chair of a council, one focused on missionary work. While I live in a community in which the majority of the people are members, there are always opportunities to help others draw closer to Christ.
