Hi I'm Claire Woodward

I'm a child of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. I'm studying history and German. I adore books and sports. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a university student right now, studying history and German. I have a weakness for old things, especially books, and love traveling, art, and music. I am fascinated by ideas and how people express themselves throughout the ages. To balance my intellectual pursuits, I also love to run and play tennis and volleyball. Sports have been important to me as a way to bond with others, push myself, and have fun. Ultimately, I'm a dreamer and schemer, and am thankful every day to be alive. I recently decided to serve a mission and am so excited to go live in Germany Berlin mission for 18 months.

Why I am a Mormon

I love being a member of Christ's church. I am a Mormon simply because I love it. The doctrine is so simple, yet it can satisfy the demands of the most intellectual mind. The Gospel of Jesus Christ brings peace into my life; as human beings, we struggle against the storms of life and I have often felt myself alone in the dark night. In these dark hours when loneliness threatens to engulf me, I have felt God's presence and His love for me, which somehow subdues fears. I know that the Book of Mormon is ture as well because it testifies of Christ and makes people better. I am a Mormon because I become a better human being as I learn. I know Christ lives and that He restored all of His truths through Joseph Smith and that today, we are led by a prophet who speaks to God that loves and cares about me.

How I live my faith

I will soon be set apart as a full-time missionary in Germany, dedicating 18 months of my life to teaching people about the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. This is important enough for me to leave behind family, friends, and schooling because I want other people to feel the peace that Christ has brought into my life. As a teenager, I served as our ward's pianist and organist, as well as a nursery worker before I left for college. My freshman year of college was wonderful as I was surrounded by many other Mormons my same age. I served as Relief Society president there for 8 months and learned so much about loving people and giving my time freely. All Relief Society sisters get the opportunity to visit teach other sisters and visiting teaching has been really important to me. Some of my most tender experiences in the church have come from visits to sisters, where we get the opportunity to bear testimony about Christ and talk freely about the struggles of life. Visiting teaching teaches people how to love. As a missionary, I'll get to experience the same love and charity; my favorite part about being Relief Society president was feeling Christ's love for every sister individually and I'm so grateful for my Savior's love for me. I know that this work is all about charity and in order to follow Christ's example, I want to learn more about His pure love and help others feel it as well.
