Hi I'm Rachel

I moved around a lot when I was growing up. I started actively coming to church when I was 14.

About Me

I have 10 younger siblings. I enjoy traveling and hope to go on a world tour one day. I love to bake and just be in the kitchen. I also enjoy making crafts. When I return from my mission I'll br starting school at BYU-I. I have no idea what I want to study because I'm interested in too many majors.

Why I am a Mormon

I never felt fully accepted into any of the other churches I went to when I loved with my mom. I noticed there was a different feeling about my dad's family and I missed it when I went back to my mom's house. When I was 14, I realized that what I was missing was the Spirit that resided in my dad's home. I started going to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because that's the church my dad went to. I was so welcomed and invited to learn. Members around me held such high standards and had so much self-confidence because they knew they are children of God. I knew some gospel principles from visiting with my dad and knew that's what I wanted in my family. My mom's family didn't join me for a few years, but I felt like I was surrounded by family when I was at church. My ward family really is part of my family because we're all Brothers and Sisters in the gospel. I know it and I can feel that I'm part of their family too. It was difficult to be the only member of my household, and I eventually moved into my dad's house so I could be supported in my decision to be an active member of the gospel. I thought I was happy before I came into the church, but since joining I have found true joy in life. Even when life gets tough, I can still find joy in little things that I normally wouldn't realize. I find peace when I pray, I find joy in my family, and I find God's love for me in being able to be a part of this restored gospel. I leave you all with this testimony in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

Right now I don't hold a calling in my ward but I have helped in teaching one of the Sunday School classes. In my previous ward, I served on a comittee that planned the activities we participated in. I often made fliers and handouts to let members know of upcoming events.

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

Rachel
For me, having faith in Jesus Christ helps me to love all of God's children, not just my family. Not everyone makes the best choices, but I know that Jesus Christ stil loves them. Knowning this helps me to find the best qualities in others and love them for it. Even members of our family can upset us by doing things they know are wrong, but we have to remember that Christ loves them anyways, even if He is disappointed in their choices. We still love our wayward family members and encourage them to make better choices. Show more Show less
