Hi I'm Ryan

I'm a Texan, born and raised. Everyday I battle Cystic Fibrosis. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Houston Texas. I hold my Texan heritage close and dear to my heart as well as the rest of my ancestry and where I come from. My mother is a convert to the church and my dad comes from a lengthy LDS heritage dating back to some of the early prominate founders of our faith, including many of the first pioneers to trek across the vast plains of the midwestern United States. I have an avid love for family history work and it is uncommon for a young adult to have put much time into something as this but it is, I feel, one of the many callings I have in life and I've had the blessing and privilege of doing most of this work for many of my relatives and forbears. I was born with a genitcally inherited illness called Cystic Fibrosis. Living to see another day is an extraordinary blessing to me in my life; when I was born I wasn't supposed to see many. There were times in my early years where my life was consumed with trials of my health but through miracles and the loving care my family showed to me I was blessed to come as far as I have. My mom is one of the most important people to me in my life and this I have always felt.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because this is what I believe with all of the entirety of my heart, soul, and being. We are in the midst of a battle between the forces of good and evil. The good, being we, the Lord's army, and the bad, being the adversary. We are sent here on this earth, which was created ever so beautifully, to save those souls who must be brought unto Christ, so that they may live with him once again in the eternal life to come. We are given many tools, one of which, being the most powerful and vital of all, is the Book of Mormon. It is another testament of Jesus Christ and testifies of his existance and as savior of the world. We are given prophets of God, and apostles, to build a foundation of righteousness and to bring forth good works and to act as mouthpieces of our Heavenly Father and provide us direction in life, and a flourishing knowledge of the gospel of Christ. I souly testify that this is a marvelous work before us. We must act upon this hearkening and go forth and do the work which we have been commanded to do. Righteousness will prevail, and through Jesus Christ, our savior, our redeemer, may we have eternal life.

How I live my faith

I was born into my faith and every day brings new insight into my life and how I should live it. Because of the incurable disease I was born with I have dealt more with complex matters pertaining to responsibility and advancing in maturity. With this, I have been blessed to be the person that I am and shaped into who I must be in this life. There were times in my life where I felt I wasn't living to my full potential, where I felt lost in the dark and dreary, where I was without hope, and that life just couldn't go on. Through undying faith, and through the inexhaustable love of our Savior Jesus Christ, as well as the love of our Heavenly Father, I overcame these obstacles which were before me and went forth and shined. I am a true believer of teaching by example. I feel that this is one of the strongest tools we have available in our arsenal, in our battle against the adversary. I try my greatest to be an exemplary of the teachings of Jesus Christ and the restored gospel, which was brought forth by a holy prophet of God, who's name is Joseph Smith.
