Hi I'm Gabby

I'm serving a full-time mission. I love to hike, bike and travel. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love working out! I try to make time for it everyday. I love the outdoors! I've hiked places in western Washington and southern Utah. I'm currently studying to become a Spanish Teacher with a minor in TESL (teaching English to speakers of other languages). I hope to teach in other countries one day. My dream is to travel to Europe, Africa, New Zealand and various countries in South and Central America. I enjoy reading anything that teaches me about my faith, especially the Book of Mormon. Swimming was a big part of my life growing up, I competed for 8 years but now I've moved on to love mountain biking. One day I will compete in a triathlon.

Why I am a Mormon

When I have a hard time or conflict with another person, I try to see them for who they really are, a child of God. Then it becomes easier to love them and want to help them. When I do what is right and what is commanded me of God, my life is so much easier. And even when I have trials, if I focus on my purpose here on earth and maintain an eternal perspective, which means that I understand and believe that my life does not end when I physically die but that I can one day live in God's presence again and enjoy life eternal--suddenly bearing my trials is not as difficult as I initially imagined. I love that when I experience tribulation I can always fall to my knees and pray. I know He hears me. Belonging to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a choice and a lifestyle. I know that because I have chosen to live my life this way that my Heavenly Father is pleased and I know that He lives. I'd like to bear my testimony of this gospel. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet, seer and revelator and that he translated the Book of Mormon, which is the word of God, and that it is true.I know that President Thomas S. Monson is the prophet of the church today. And I know that if I continue to stand in Holy Places that the Spirit's presence will never leave me. I know this church is the true church that the Prophet Joseph Smith restored upon this earth. And I know that the power of prayer is so strong and that repentance can help me gain a fresh view of the world around me and of my Heavenly Father. I know He loves me with all his heart and I'm grateful for the love that I feel everyday. I know I have a purpose here on earth and I look forward to the day when I can return to live with Him. I humbly bear these things in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

I used to wake up each morning excited to get out of bed and do something amazing that day. I read my scriptures and study them diligently. They are the word of God and I feel the Spirit's presence when I read them. I search for answers in the scriptures and I pray to God. I know He lives and I know he hears me. I grew up not going to church so much but once I realized how blessed my life became when I started attending and began serving others and loving them, my life had more purpose. I try to volunteer my time during the week to help others and I never miss out on an opportunity to serve somebody. I live my life as if I were getting ready to meet the Savior tomorrow. I repent daily and I try harder the next day. My church calling as a family home evening chair, which means that I organize the weekly church activity on Monday nights, allows me to get to know people in my ward and reach out to new members and those coming back to church. I love my church calling! Living the Gospel of Jesus Christ everyday is what gives me strength to keep going, especially when I am faced with afflictions because I know I can always pray to my Heavenly Father and ask for His help and to feel comfort and I know I can always ask for a blessing from a worthy male who holds the Priesthood.
