Hi I'm Jordan

I grew up in Alberta, I have raised over $15,000 to help build a school in Ghana, I love Jesus Christ, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to play volleyball, basketball and rugby and enjoy the success and failures of playing sports. Through these sports I have been honoured with many awards which have allowed me to pursue education with scholarships through my hard work. With these scholarships I was able to attend university where I was enrolled in engineering. After being in the engineering faculty I no longer felt it was for me and I am considering a new course in my life of International Development, teaching, or Anthropology. Throughout the years I have been actively involved with NGO's and helped organize and participate in many fundraising events for international causes such as putting on a concert of music and raising over $15, 000 for a school in Ghana; collecting over 300 white shirts and ties for church congregations in Malawi, Africa; fundraising for women's rights in developing countries by waxing my legs, and many others. Through my many adventures I have decided to serve a mission for two years for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and to help teach people about God and Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because it makes sense, both in my heart and in my mind. Everything builds on each other, where there is a basic foundation which is Jesus Christ and his sacrifice and then everything is built up from that. It is the only church that allows me to learn of and apply the amazing sacrifice and love of Jesus Christ into my life. With the Bible written in the Middle East by the Jews it gives us amazing understanding of Jesus Christ and the love of God. With the Book of Mormon that was written by the people in the South American region, it proves to me that God loves everyone. There is two witnesses that tell me that Jesus Christ really did do what he said he was going to do, as well it shows how much God loves me. With the Bible and Book of Mormon together it creates a bridge of love. With the knowledge of Jesus Christ in my life and applying his sacrifice or atonement into my life, I truly have been able to find greater peace and joy in my life. I know where I came from, I know exactly why I am here, and I know with confidence and peace of where I am going. I know that Jesus Christ lives today and so does Heavenly Father. With this knowledge it gives me comfort to know that I am praying and communicating with an actual being, not just a concept, but a God who has flesh and bones like me. I know that Jesus Christ died for me and everyone that has ever lived on the face of this earth. His love is real and I know that the Book of Mormon and Bible are the word of God. I know that Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon so that everyone may build their own bridge of God's love between the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I know that the Holy Ghost which is the third member of the God head helps me draw closer to Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father, and with the Holy Ghost I can gain any answer to any question I desire as long as it is according to the will of God. I know that God is a God of pure and genuine love.

How I live my faith

Within my church congregation I have a few roles which include playing the piano for church services and whenever need be. I participate in teaching a sunday school class every other week as well I help in teaching an early morning religion class for the youth in the community. I am a youth leader for the young men in our congregation where I help facilitate, supervise, and lead the young men and their adventures. Some . As well, I go and visit many people in their homes from my congregation on a regular basis and see how they are doing and observe how I may help in providing for their spiritual, emotion, mental and physical needs. Many of the fundraising events I have done in the community have been my desire to be better at living my faith and following the example of Jesus Christ. This previous summer I was able to live in Nauvoo, Illinois for a little over a month and volunteer myself for an outdoor play about church history, where I was able to be on the work crew and help facilitate in back stage matters for the play. As I have served locally and on the global community I am grateful for the amazing experiences I have had to better others lives and mine. As I have continually done my best to follow the example of Jesus Christ by going and serving those around me, my life has become full of meaning and joy. With God, my life has been able to be made a whole lot more than what I could have done out of my own efforts.
