Hi I'm Monica

I am from Cedar City, Ut. I am a bank Telller and I am preparing to serve a mission in Costa Rica. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 21 years old. I am preparing to leave and serve a mission on Feb 20th, 2013 to Costa Rica San Jose. I am a convert. I was baptized by a young missionary that was serving our area. He was a great example and inspiration to me. I became inactive for a couple years, but thanks to an amazing family and a couple very good friends I came back. And for the last year and a half I have been working and preparing very hard so I could serve a mission for the Lord. Right now my mother and father are serving a mission for the country of Uruguay. So it has been hard preparing without them here, but they are a great example and support to me. And I know the Lord will bless me and provides a way ALWAYS!! He never said it would be easy He only said it would be worth it. I truly believe those words. There always seems to be a struggle, but that is what makes us grow. And the reward at the end is greater then any pain we could ever encounter in our lives.

Why I am a Mormon

Why I am a Mormon... I am a Mormon for many reasons. I love my family so much, as do most people. The Mormon religion truly has shown me a way that I can be with my family for ALL ETERNITY. And that is exactly what I want. Another reason is I love how they serve, how they help people. As I stated in one of the past sections I am a convert. My parents that I stated that are on a mission in Uruguay is my biological mother and my step father. My biological father is and anti-mormon. When I was younger he was abusive in many ways. So my mother knew she needed to get out and away from him to protect us. She always had to go to church alone because he wouldn't allow my siblings and I to go. But the church just kicked right in for my family. Whatever my mother said she needed they were right there to help us. They prayed with us, fed us when my dad would leave, cried with us when we needed, and comforted us always. The love and compassion they showed to my family and myself was something I had never seen before. ESPECIALLY from people that I hardly even knew. They taught me and showed me the way that I could be happy. I have tried and tested it many times. And every time it has proven true. That the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. Something that has grown so greatly, brought me so much joy and peace, and helps people to no end has to be true. And I truly believe it is. This is why i am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by obeying God's commandments. I always try to make myself available to help and serve others whenever they are in need. Service is a great tool to keep you on the right track. I try to behave good, for example: no swearing, losing my temper, being unkind. I try to love those around me. Also trying to prepare to serve a mission has helped me a lot. It makes a lot of people watch you constantly so you have to make sure that you living the life of a missionary and seen through the eyes of other that you are righteous and good to people around you. Or you could give people the wrong impression about the church. So I do try my best to live what we preach. I am not perfect, but I do try to be. That is the key to try. Also every Sunday I teach one of the classes for the 6 and 7 year olds. It is awesome to be able to teach and share my testimony with these little children and to have them teach me and share their testimonies with me. As of right now... I believe that is my greatest call.
