Hi I'm Melanie

I live in Utah. I am a Para-Educator and I help my husband run his weapons training business. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I work with 3rd and 4th graders (8-10 year olds) on their reading skills. I am also the secretary for my husbands business. I am the very proud mother of 3 children ranging in age from 10-16. My biggest passion is doing genealogy. I love finding out about my ancestors. I can not describe the thrill I have when I find the information for an ancestor that I have been looking for for months, or even years. I also love to travel. My dream is to travel to Europe so that I can find the places that my ancestors came from. It would be wonderful to see where/how they lived and to walk where they walked.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the LDS faith. My family was always active, which means we went to church every Sunday. And, as I got older I also participated in the youth activities that the church had. I had a rough patch in my life when I became a teenager and made some choices that affected the course that my life was on. I became, what is called, inactive (which means that I choose not to live my faith) for about 6 years. I went to church off and on, but I was not very serious. Then, some things happened in my life that really helped me to put my life back on course and to develop my testimony. I have been active for about 10 years now, and I cannot describe how much better my life and how much happier I am because of that. I usually do not share my testimony because it is so very personal to me. It was developed through a lot of tears and prayer. But, I know that the gospel is true, to the very core of my being. I have absolutely no doubt that Joseph Smith saw Heavenly Father and Jesus in the Sacred Grove when he prayed to know which church was true. I know that he found the Book of Mormon, and with the help of the spirit, that he translated it so that we may have a new set of scripture. My favorite scripture is Luke 1:37 "For with God nothing shall be impossible." I know that with his help I can accomplish anything.

How I live my faith

I love serving in my ward. One of my callings in my ward is to work with the children, they range from age 3-12. I also work with the 10 year old cub scouts. I love these two callings. I really feel that working with these children is a big blessing for me. I learn so much from them. They are so innocent and they really do have a lot to teach the adults if we would just slow down and listen to them.
