Hi I'm Curtis

I grew up in Washington and Idaho. I am a collegiate cross country and track runner. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. And I have been able to see the multitude of blessings that come from following the gospel and having a home centered in Christ. I am someone who loves to see the beauty of the great outdoors and I try to be outside doing fun activities like running, camping, hiking, and biking. I love to see all the wonderful things that God has created. I know He loves us and wishes to bless us.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints, I always believe that what I was taught was true. I had read the Book of Mormon several times and believed that the words within it were true and that the counsel it gives us will help us find true joy and happiness. But I never really knew, from the bottom of my heart, that this is the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ, until I went to a youth camp call Especially For Youth, which are available all over the United States for young men and women ages 14-18. I had a wonderful group and leaders that really cared about me and expressed their love for me. While there, I thoughtfully studied the Book of Mormon and the Bible, and I prayed for a confirmation that the words of the Book of Mormon, as well as the words of the latter-day prophets including Thomas S. Monson were true, and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was God's true church. After praying, I felt some thing that can't be accurately described. It was the most peaceful and warm feeling. I felt as though I were wrapped in the arms of my Heavenly Father, and I heard a voice in my heart tell me that everything I believed about the Book of Mormon, and about the prophets was true. I know that this was the Holy Ghost manifesting to me that I was following the right path and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints contains the full Gospel of Christ. I have been able to continue to feel the hand of the Lord in my life.

How I live my faith

I have been able to be very active in the wards and branches that I have lived in. I have held many youth leadership positions and have been able to help organize activities and trips that have helped me to develop as a person and to increase my faith in Jesus Christ. I love to help others and do service activities with members of my ward. It gives me a lot of joy to see the effect that I can have in lightening others' loads. I think that service is one of the greatest tools that we can use in bringing others to Christ. If we strive to be the kind of people that others seek out in times of need, or when they have questions, we can help them in a multitude of ways, including helping them recognize Heavenly Father's love for them as well as help them recognize how they can follow Christ's example. I have had the priveledge to be called to serve a mission and for the next two years I will be in Mexico, sharing what I know and inviting others to come to Christ and to accept his gospel. All while learing to speak the beautiful language of Spanish!
