Hi I'm Emmy

I'm a mom, a photographer, a blogger, and someone who tries to live life with the glass half-full. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a former social worker turned mom. I am a part time photographer and full time blogger. I love crafting, tole-painting and have been known to be flipped all around while swing dancing. I look for the good in life and try to live my life with a glass-half-full approach. I'm a little too good at multi-tasking and reading can be dangerous for me as I do love getting lost in a good book. I grew up in the same house until I went to college and now have lived in 10 different places in four different states. Life can be an adventure and I try to enjoy it with a smile and laughter everyday. I also am trying to take after my mother with her amazing example of patience and service- though I have a long way to go. I am taking this journey of life one day at a time.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member of the Church in an area which being a member made me the minority. I was one of six members in my high school of over 2,000 students. Church was not something I went to because everyone else did, as most of my friends did not attend church, but it was something I chose to do for myself. I often got invited to parties with the disclaimer that- there is going to be smoking and drinking so you probably won't want to go; and every time I had to chose to miss being with my friends and not go as I did not want to put myself in an uncomfortable situation. When I was a Sophomore in high school I decided I wanted to really know if it was true. I decided I would read the Book of Mormon everyday. After I had read for several months I was reading in the book of Alma in chapter 26 verse 12; as I read that verse my life changed. Tears ran from my eyes and my heart was filled with such peace and joy- I knew it was true. I knew it was all true. I also learned an important lesson that day. That the things that matter in life aren't just going to come to me automatically. It isn't until I stop, make an effort and really listen that the answers will come to me in life. In other words, I just need to slow down and really pay attention to life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by smiling. There is so much negativity and sorrow in this world that I want to share the joy and peace my faith brings me by simply smiling. I have served with the children at my church helping them learn about Jesus. I have also helped teach the teenagers and am amazed at how strong and faithful they are. Currently I am serving as the Cub Scout Committee Chair helping make sure the boys get all the awards they are earning.
