Hi I'm Samantha

I am a climber, snowboarder and riverrat. I am always outside! I am a missionary in Ft Lauderdale Florida. And yup I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town in Utah. That is where I learned that I was blessed to live in the best town in the world! I moved for a season to Idaho where I had the privilege of working in the outdoors as a raft guide. I went back to Utah and studied visual arts at Snow College. Shortly after receiving my associates I headed out to Ft. Lauderdale, FL to serve a full-time mission. I learned to ski when I was 3 years old and when I was 12 I learned to snowboard. My dad has taught me everything I know about the outdoors, he taught me to rock climb, kayak and survive in the back country. All throughout my life my family has been really close, this is because of all the time we've been able to spend together, not only outside but also at church and through family prayer and scripture study. This is very important to me! God has blessed me with such a fantastic life! I am constantly in awe at the sublime sights, places, people and things that He has filled His world with, all for the enjoyment of His children! I've never felt closer to Him than while on the mountain in the middle of a snow storm or between two canyon walls with the roar of the river! But for now I've put it all on hold to serve God's children in South Florida, to learn Spanish and to see God given miracles everyday for 18 months. Nothing gives me more joy or happiness than to see others come unto Christ and to see the difference He can make in anyone and everyone's life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that it means that I am a part of Jesus Christ's restored Gospel and Church, that same Gospel that He established on the earth over 2,000 years ago. Being a Mormon means that I can live with my family and those I love forever. Being a Mormon has helped me understand the role that Jesus Christ can play in my life. It also means I can learn more of Him through the Book of Mormon, which testifies of Christ and all the things that He has done for us. Being a Mormon is just the beginning of obtaining the ultimate joy and happiness a child of God can acquire, it comes with an understanding of one's purpose and the role that God is the center of that purpose. So basically if you're not a Mormon yet, you should become one!

How I live my faith

All that we have is because God gave it to us and the only way to show gratitude for what he has given us is through giving back. He doesn't ask for much- Studying the scriptures daily, communicating with Him on a regular basis, attending church once a week, seeking those in need of love or a friend and serving them. There is no better remedy than prayer or work! He asks for our hearts and promises us that when we give it our ALL He will take care of us and all of our needs. We learn these things through daily scripture study and attending church, this gives me (and can give everyone else) the strongest of armor. I seek for the promise that as we build on our Savior, Jesus Christ, we will obtain a sure foundation and once we have that foundation: We CANNOT fall! :) Helaman 5:12, The Book of Mormon

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

To me the answer to this question is simple: The purpose of this life is to submit to the will of God and to become more like Him. Each one of us has a different role which God has given us, our responsibility is to fulfill that role. He has called women to be dedicated Mothers and to nurture and have charity for those around us and men to be dedicated Fathers and Priesthood holders. I know that this is God's will.
