Hi I'm Colin Fiala

I was raised in Virginia. I am a Spanish speaking missionary in Washington. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Before becoming a full-time missionary I loved playing the drums, basketball, longboarding and doing graphic design. In June 2012 I started a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and put all my personal interests aside to serve the Lord. I left my whole family, 5 brothers and 3 sisters, to come to Washington and be a missionary. I have been assigned to work within the Hispanic community as a "Spanish missionary" so I have been studying Spanish since I started my service in 2012. I attend church and teach in Spanish, which is hard to do sometimes since I'm not immersed in the language. I have loved learning about so many different cultures, so far I have taught people from Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Columbia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, Spain, Ururguay and Venezuela. I hope to study abroad after my mission somewhere in South America or Spain.

Why I am a Mormon

It is difficult to pick just one reason why I am Mormon. I could talk about the amazing people I've met through going to church, the principles I've learned there but when it comes down to it I know that God wants me in this church. I started to search for myself when I was 15 years old for assurance that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is everything it says it is. Nearly every person or source I looked in told me something different. However, I knew that God was the source of all truth and I learned that I could ask Him in prayer for an answer. After many months of reading in the Book of Mormon and finally asking in sincere prayer I felt an overwhelming peace and assurance that this is where God wanted me to be. I have had following experiences like that, that have reassured me that this is the restored Church of Jesus Christ. It is incredible to know that God will answer our questions when we are confused. I have found true happiness in this church and know God's purpose for us here. This knowledge gives me peace of mind and helps me have the desire to be a good Christian and invite others to learn more about who we are.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by sharing it with others everyday! I am a full time missionary! Since last year and until June 2014 I get to invite others to hear our special message about Jesus Christ and how will it will bring them closer to God and add to the beliefs they may already have.
