Hi I'm Cassie

My name is Cassie. I'm a huge nerd, love movies, love laughing, dark chocolate, and looking at life through the lens of my camera.

About Me

I grew up in Omaha Nebraska and moved later to California in high school. I've been in love with photography since the first time I ever got a little plastic barbie camera for my birthday when I was 9. I have 2 brothers and 2 sisters, and love my family to death. I've been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints all my life, and I owe all the credit to who I am to the gospel of Jesus Christ. I'm a student and studying Emergency Medicine hoping that in some small way I can help people and make the world a little brighter. That and I love SCRUBS! :)

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because I have read the Book of Mormon. I have prayed about Jospeh Smith, and I have gotten an answer. I know that Jospeh Smith by the power of God did translate the ancient record of the inhabitants of the Americas. I know that the people in the Book Of Mormon really did exist. I know that studying and learning from the account of those people that we can learn from their mistakes as well as from their sucesses. That we too...no matter what our faith may be...can learn from it and it will uplift and bless our lives. I know this all to be true because I have wittnessed the miracles it has brought to so many lives as a missionary...and the miracles and tender mercies of the Lord in my own life.

How I live my faith

I just returned home from serving an 18 month mission, honestly in that time I've become incredibly close to the Savior. I live my faith by trusting Him, believing in Him, honoring Him, and keeping His commandments. It's that simple.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Cassie
I know that there is a God because I can't look at all the beautiful things on this earth, and all the amazing people that I have come across....and it all be for nothing. Looking into the eyes of a new born baby, or watching the sunset, seeing tender mercies in my own life that could not just be by chance. Many people argue that there can't be a God...because if there were then why do awful horrific things happen. My answer to that is like any Father that loves His children He can't be there to catch us everytime. Some how we must learn the hard things ourselves. We must come to experience sorrow if we are to experience joy. Our Father in heaven loves us, and through it all..if you just look....He has never left us alone. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Cassie
Absoutely! I am in the process of reading the bible and am amazed at the words of the prophets. There is so much knowledge and wisdom in the Bible and together with the Book of Mormon testify of Jesus Christ, Our Father in Heaven, and how we can get back to Them. The Lord has sent has prophets to guide us since the begining of time, whether in Israel or in the Americas...they're messages were the same and meant to save us. Show more Show less

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Cassie
Women have a divine role in this life, just as men do. Women were given the right to bare children, to be a portal in which souls enter into this world. That is a sacred thing ONLY given to women. Why were men given the priesthood? I don't know, but frankly they needed something to do. There have been many strong female leaders throughout the scriptures and history. Ruth, Naomi, Ester, Mary, etc. Today it is no different. Each of us create our own legacy. Women and men are different in Gods eyes...but equal. We can be just as influential in leading people in righteousness as men can, in fact sometimes...we might have a little more success because of our nurturing nature :) "Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her."
