Hi I'm Miles Haynes

I'm from Texas. I'm stinkin' tall. Helping people be happy, makes me happy. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I've grown up in the great state of Texas my whole life; and for me it's true that "everything is bigger in Texas", as I stand 6'8". Over the years I have enjoyed playing basketball, writing poetry, flying kites, drawing, singing, juggling, shooting hoops, playing bassoon, public speaking, and many other things. But my favorite moments of all are the moments spent with my little sister, she's my best bud. As I have focused on developing my talents to help others, I have been able to overcome the effects of depression and an eating disorder. I love my life. I love helping people understand the gospel, in a way that enables them to choose happiness. I hope to someday be a City Manager. I'm currently serving in the California Long Beach Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

We are all on a quest. A quest for happiness, for light. We are scrambling to snatch up as much happiness as we can. But true, lasting happiness, is a bi-product of understanding eternal truth. In much of this world, we can find truth, or really good imitations of light and truth, that imitation maybe even gives us the bi-product of happiness we were searching for, if even just for a moment. But to live in such a way that our life is almost overwhelmed with happiness, even in the darkest moments, comes from understanding principle, not from something that we can physically do. This church teaches those principles in the most pure form. Allowing us to truly choose for ourselves, to be happy. Christ is the Light. This is His church. Nothing in the world will help you be happy more, day in and day out, than living this gospel.

How I live my faith

I've grown up a Mormon, but being in the Bible belt has helped strengthen my testimony. I have had to stand up for what I believe, and explain how I am, in fact, a Christian. I have always been excited to serve my mission, ever since I was a child. Over the years of talking with and teaching my friends who have been interested in what I believe, I have come to understand that it is not the end of the world if they don't end up believing the wonderful things that I know are true, at the end of our conversations. I know that just planting the seed is important, and someday it will grow. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ so much. It used to be things that I did, because I knew that the gospel was good, and would make me happy. But I have learned that it truly is the means of "becoming". Becoming what we have always dreamed of being, that we think is out of our reach, and becoming more like our Savior, as he truly desires us to be. I am currently serving as a missionary in the California Long Beach Mission, because I know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the only thing that will keep us happy on this Earth, and forever. And everyone, deserves to be happy.
