Hi I'm David

I grew up in central California. i love singing, cooking, reading, listening to music, & spending time with my friends & my family

About Me

I love spending time with my sisters and my parents. I enjoy walks on the beach and talking face to face with someone instead of over the phone or through text. I enjoy Chemistry. I love to read and being outside. I love camping and hiking. I am an Eagle Scout, I'm scuba certified, I'm a missionary in the Maryland Baltimore Mission serving in Spanish, i want to do somthing related to vocal performance or vocal education (singing), the only things I know for sure right now about my future life is I want to be married in the temple for time and all eternity, I want to be a father, and I want to continue to serve the Lord even after my mission.

Why I am a Mormon

All my life, I have been a Mormon. I was born into the church and as I got older, I was able to know for myself that the things that I had been tought were true. I can't pin point a specific time where I knew it was true, but I know that it is true and I would be going against everything that I am, if I don't do what I know to be right. While on my mission, I have read the Book of Mormon twice so far. Once in English and once in Spanish. With every word that I read, the truthfulness of that book gets engrained deeper into my heart. I know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He died for us and He atoned for our sins to make it possibly for us to return to the presense of our Heavenly Father and live with them in the world to come. I know that Joseph Smith was truely called to be a prophet in these latter days. I know that Thomas S Monson is the true and living prophet on the earth today.

How I live my faith

I am serving as a missionary for the church in Maryland for two years. I am really enjoying this opportunity to increase my personal knowledge of the teachings of the church and helping others learn about what I know to be true. A mission is hard and it can be a struggle every day, but it is definately worth every effort.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

David
Missionary work is a commandment that has been instituted since the time of the Savior's eartly ministry, if not earlier. However, each person has their own agency and we are free to choose whether or not we desire to serve a mission. For the youth of the Church, missions are highly encouraged because they not only strengthen the missionary's personal testimony, it also teaches various skills that are very helpful and needed in the individual's later years. Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

David
The name "Mormon" referring to members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is derived from the title of a book of holy scripture that we use along with the Bible known as The Book of Mormon. The nickname "Mormon" has been used in reference to members of the Church since the Church was frist organized and The Book of Mormon was first published. The nickname has stuck since that time period and is usually more commonly known to those not of our faith than the official name of the church. Show more Show less

What is being a Mormon like?

David
Being a Mormon is GREAT! I know lots of people that think that we have tons of "rules" and that we can't do anything, but if you look at the "rules" as commandments from a loving Heavenly Father, given to us for our protection, it makes it easier to live the commandments we recieve. When we obey the commandments that God has given us, we recieve promised blessings and from those blessings we recieve true joy and happiness. Show more Show less
