Hi I'm Ikaia Nawahine

I grew up in Hawaii but have lived in the mainland as well, i love to play sports and music with my family, i'm a mormon

About Me

My name is Ikaia and i grew up in Hawaii on the islands of Oahu and Molokai. I have a passion for football and have been coached by my father for most of my life until high school. I have attended three high schools in four years due to relocation for my father's job. I have just finished a fall semester at BYU Provo where i played on the rugby team who had won nationals in 2012. I have also received my mission call to labor in the Fiji, Suva mission and i am super excited to teach the people of Fiji. I have grew up in the church and lived a very simple life, my parents taught me to appreciate everything i have and to always keep the gospel in my life. I am the oldest of six children and am always on my toes to be the best example i can. I hope you have gotten to know me a little better.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church so i never really knew what it was like to see our religion from the outside. However, i have had extended family members who were not members of the church until they finally heard the truth for themselves either through missionary work or service. It is amazing to see the change they make in their lives for something they believe to be true without a doubt and that is what is so awesome about being a member of our church. We share a happiness that we want to share with others and that is why we choose to do missionary work. Many believe that we are forced to serve a mission, we choose to serve a mission because we have seen how the gospel has blessed our lives and we want others to experience that happiness as well.

How I live my faith

I have always been involved in scouts, i am an Eagle scout and it is something that i encourage all young men to go after whether you are part of the church or not. Scouts has taught me many life lessons that sometimes you can't fully grasp in other places. Recently while at college i held a calling and it was service committee chairman. It was a great calling for me because i love to serve the people and by serving the people i am only serving the lord. I had the opportunity to organize two blood drives throughout the semester that had great turnouts and i also assisted in organizing a Christmas service project for a children's hospital. We helped them decorate their rooms for the holiday season and caroled to them while they had their dinner. It was really humbling to be there with these children. I have been taught by my father to always do my home teaching and i strive to do it every month. It is important that your assigned families receive the message for the month.
