Hi I'm Debora Lyn

I'm a Mechanical Engineering student. I'm a musician. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Utah, the middle child in my family. I got into music when I started taking cello lessons when I was 5 years old. I took up piano a couple years after that. As a teenager I took up clarinet and French horn. Music has become a major part of who I am. In high school I discovered engineering when some university engineering students spoke to my Calculus class. I fell in love with engineering. I began college, and started the prerequisites for the engineering program. Music is my love, engineering is my passion. What's best about it is that there's so much I can do with both of them to touch the lives of others, and that's ultimately what I want to do with my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church, attending the meetings every week with my family. The church was simply part of who I was. But as I grew up, I found that it wasn't enough to go for my parents, or anyone else. I had to know for myself whether or not the church was true. I read the Book of Mormon, and prayed to know if it was true and if, by extension, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was the true church. I am a Mormon because I received my answer that the Book of Mormon and the church are both true. I am a Mormon because of the peace and joy it has brought to my life. During the hardest times of my life, the gospel has brought a supreme peace to my life unlike anything else could.

How I live my faith

The church has given me the great gift of service. I've had the opportunity to serve in the church youth groups. These service projects weren't my favorite thing growing up, but over time they taught me the value of service. I grew to enjoy the service, and I had continuing opportunities to serve. I was able to really come to love those I had the opportunity to serve. I grew up hearing stories of Christ. I try and live my faith by living by Christ's example. Through the church I had the chance to serve, and love those I served.
