Hi I'm Don Bennion

I was born in a farming community called Granger, now the West Valley City. I'm a Mormon and a descendent of a pioneer.

About Me

I am 77 years old, a retired Electronic Engineer. I am an avid fly fisherman and enjoy fishing rivers and lakes in the inter-mountain area. I enjoy music and have played in dance combos for many years. I play saxophone and clarinet. We have a large family of 10 children. One of our children was a downs syndrome son and he recently passed away at the age of 49. He has been a great blessing to our family. My wife and I have served a humanitarian mission for the LDS Church to the Country of Sri Lanka and now have many friends in that country. We are currently serving as missionaries in the Nauvoo, Illinois Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a Mormon but I have come to have a strong conviction that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. I know that this true church has been restored to the earth in these the latter days through the prophet Joseph Smith. I also know that our Father in heaven truly lives and that His only begotten son, Jesus Christ also lives. I know that Heavenly Father is aware of me, knows me personally and answers my prayers. I know that my Savior loves me and has come to earth and has given his life as an atonement for my sins and the sins of all mankind. Through the atonement, all of our sins for which we repent will be forgiven and wiped away. I know that His atoning sacrifice can bless us in many ways even now in our mortal lives. As we draw near unto Him he can heal us from our mistakes, errors in judgment and our pains and sicknesses. I love the Savior Jesus Christ and my Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I have had many callings in the church and have served in leadership positions. I have always served as a home-teacher even when we were serving in Sri Lanka. I try to visit my assigned families at least once per month. I have also served many years as an adult class Sunday School teacher. I am also served in a nearby LDS temple, the Jordan River Temple. I also spend a lot of time with my grandchildren watching them perform at music and dance recitals as well as basketball, football, baseball and soccer games.
