Hi I'm Devin Murphy

I was raised in Arizona. I am a converted preparing missionary. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in California but moved to Arizona at a young age. At 15, I was baptized and confirmed in the LDS church. I am currently 18 and preparing for my mission. I have only one other relative who is an active member of the Church, and my mother is currently inactive. I enjoy activities such as hiking, camping, acting, and playing the drums.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon. I chose this path because it is an honest and true path that will keep me the best that I can be. In my family alone, I see how many of the things we do not use is a distraction to our potential and hinders the capabilities of people around me. I know the teachings of the Church are true, and that there is a living prophet on this earth in Thomas S. Monson.

How I live my faith

I attend church every Sunday, and am currently called as a Ward Missionary, which is essentially an assistant missionary to the full-time missionaries. I find every opportunity that I can to provide service in my community, and my Bishop lets me know if there are any such opportunities that I can provide assistance.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Devin Murphy
The Bible IS the true word of God, however during an event called the great apostasy, where the authority of the priesthood was lost after the death of Christ's apostles. During this time, the Bible was translated several times into different languages, and many things were removed from the bible, so that the original meanings were lost. Joseph Smith was called by God to restore the lost Gospel, part of which is in the Book of Mormon, which contains an account of Christ's people in the Americas and their struggles. Show more Show less
