Hi I'm Whitney

I'm an avid hiker and decorate cakes just for the fun of it! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've grown up in the gospel and truly feel blessed at the opportunity that has been. I am the oldest of 5 children and love being the "trail blazer". I am just over half way done with my Bachelor's Degree in mathematics. I'd love to continue on to a Masters Degree and teach at a University or Junior College, but we will see where life decides to take me! Although I love math, one of my greatest hobbies is cake decorating and culinary arts. I love sports and played basketball through high school and volleyball on collegiate intramural teams. I love to sing and have played the piano since the age of 5. I am an avid hiker and have covered most of the Wasatch Mountains, including Kings Peak, the highest peak in Utah. I love being outdoors, enjoying the beauty it provides.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that my Father in Heaven loves me. I know that He knows me, Whitney, personally. I know that He gave me His son, Jesus Christ, to die for my sins and my mistakes, to take away my pains and burdens so that I would not have to suffer. I am a Mormon because I know that this gospel is true. I have felt the power of the Spirit in my life testify of truth. I have felt it's warmth and comforting power that this is exactly where I need to be and the only place that I should be. I am a Mormon because I know that the Book of Mormon teaches truth. I know that it was translated through the power of God by His servant Joseph Smith. I am a Mormon because this is the only true gospel that has a Prophet and Apostles that lead our church in these latter-days. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever and He would not leave us alone to wander this earth and try to figure everything out by ourselves. I am a Mormon because this gospel allows me to be the very best version of myself, one that I will feel proud to take back to my Heavenly Father and be able to live in His presence once again.

How I live my faith

Because I've been involved with music for so much of my life, a lot of my participation in my religious congregation has been through playing the piano or leading the hymns. I love the opportunity to praise my Heavenly Father through music and the words of song. Music has such a powerful influence in worship. I also have the opportunity to visit with specific women in my community and share messages of love and support which has been an enormous blessing in my life as well as theirs. I have had the chance to teach and direct many woman in my area at the University I attend. I learn so much more from those around me then I could ever try to teach them. I love feeling the spirit of the individuals in my community and learning and growing together.

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

We need a Savior because we are human and imperfect! If our goal is to return to God in Heaven, we have to be perfected, worthy beings to stand before Him. This is God's greatest desire for each of His children, but He knew we would need His help. Therefore He provided His Son, Jesus Christ. We would have no hope of forgiveness or perfection if it were not for our Savior Jesus Christ. Because of Him and the sacrifices He made on our behalf, we can repent of our human mistakes, our sins and disobedience, and be forgiven, our slates wiped clean! Show more Show less
