Hi I'm York Kern

I grew up in northern California. I went to High School and college in Provo, Utah. I love sports. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 19 and currently attending BYU and the people there are great. I love playing sports and I love watching sports. I played on my high school football team and I took state in 4A football championships. I love to be able to build things with my hands, and one of my favorite things to do in my free time is to do wood working, especially wood turning. I am an eagle scout, and I love to camp and serve my community. I come from a big family and I have three brothers and three sisters. I am an uncle of two nieces and I love it. I love to play games, sports, and really anything that has a competitive element to it.

Why I am a Mormon

I started out as a Mormon because I was born into this church. I was raised to live in the standards that are taught with in, but that is not what made me a Mormon. What makes me a Mormon is my testimony of the truthfulness of the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am a Mormon because I know that the Book of Mormon is true. I have read every single page and I know that it is the word of God. I know that God hears and answers our prayers. He loves us and wants the best for each and everyone of us. I am a Mormon because I know that God loves us and wants us to return to him, and the only way to do that is through repentance and baptism. I am not a Mormon because of what other people have told me. I am a Mormon because of what I have experienced. I have grown on what others have taught me, but it is my testimony that sustains me. I am a Mormon because the gospel is true.

How I live my faith

Most of the time I live my faith by living just a simple, Christ centered life. I have been the leader of youth my age while growing up, and I have served under different youth leaders. I like to be a leader by the way that I live my life. I find that it is not always what you say but it is what you do that is the best form of leadership. I enjoy home teaching and getting to know many different people. I love to attend service projects and I enjoy helping out the older folks in my area. I live my faith by attending church regularly, and by reading my scriptures diligently. I live my faith by trying to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to those that don't have a knowledge of it. I live my faith by giving two years of my life to the service of the Lord and the teaching of His gospel.
