Hi I'm Alexander

I'm a friend I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am 20 years old & I just returned from my mission in Bulgaria. I enjoy playing sports, reading:), cooking/eating, & just being around people. I love serving others, seeing other people laughing, smiling, being happy. I'd like to make a difference in the world. My life pretty much revolves around chess. I play chess, teach chess, & build chess learning tools. I guess you could say I'm a chess engineer. My family & friends are way important to me & I look forward to having a family of my own soon one day.

Why I am a Mormon

Well I was originally raised as a Mormon. I went to church, occasionally read & prayed.. but I hadn't received a witness of these things really on my own. There was a time in my life for about 3 years where I just was not interested in participating in this faith & I chose a different path. I spent time with the wrong crowd, made some bad decisions, & grew a lot. I realized that this wasn't the life for me.. I started to be a little bit more involved in the church but it wasn't until I really found out for myself that God was there, that He loved me, cared for me, & heard me that I really decided to make a big change in my life. The process was not easy but I started spending my time with other friends. I started reading the scriptures, attending seminary, & going to church more actively. Slowly but surely changes were happening in my life. As I've studied the Bible & other religions I saw a lot of conflicting beliefs & ways of living. I would read in the Book of Mormon as well. I prayed to know if the Book of Mormon was true & at first I didn't get immediate answers. But through more study & applying the things which the church teaches I received confirmations of the truthfulness of these things. This is the only place that makes sense.. But I love who God has made me into the person I am now by living these things & sharing them with others & it is a continual process. As I have lived my beliefs & have invited others to do so I have seen miracles in my life & the lives of others. It is a daily thing.

How I live my faith

Well after returning home from a mission one can feel lost & not useful. I loved my mission so much that I strive to be a missionary still. So I continue to study & ponder the scriptures & strive to apply the things which I read. Prayer is an important part of my faith. When I pray I share with my Heavenly Father how I feel, what some of my goals are & things I'd like to improve on. I ask for help.. I ask for strength to overcome my circumstances. One of my most favorite things to do to live my faith is I love to visit people in their homes, to just talk to them, & offer ways to help & serve them. I also try to have conversations with people about my beliefs & these things. On Sundays when I go to church I rededicate myself to my Savior Jesus Christ. I also have more opportunities to serve others. I teach a Sunday School class with the 17-18 year old kids. During the month I like to go to the temple & think of my Redeemer & again recommit myself to him. Another other way I'm striving to live my faith is by helping in my family as well as strengthening my friends who have diverse challenges. It brings me great joy to do these things; to follow my Savior Jesus Christ.
