Hi I'm Michael McPherson

I'm a runner. I'm currently serving a mission in Maryland and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Idaho, but soon after moved to Utah. I am the oldest of 5 kids. I started running when I was almost 10 years old and it became a "healthy addiction" for me. I grew up moving around in Utah. I went to college for a year at Dixie State College in St. George before leaving for the Maryland Baltimore Mission where I am currently serving.

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up a member of the church, but for a long time I was just going through the motions. I attended church regularly and participated in callings and in seminary, but I wasn't spiritually converted until I left home for college in St. George, UT. The first week I was down there, I didn't have any friends or anyone else for that matter that was familiar to me that I could turn to. So I decided to start reading the Book of Mormon and started praying about it. I got the strongest impression that even though I didn't know anyone down there, I was not alone and that I did matter to God. Ever since that time, the church has played a critical role in my life.

How I live my faith

The Church has become an integral part of my life style. Before I started in the mission field I helped in a congregation of college students, keeping records for the unit. Most of my friends have been members of the church. A large part of my social life has been church-sponsored activities. I've attended every sunday for as long as I can remember. Basically my life would be completely different if I weren't a part of the church.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Michael McPherson
No. We believe that Joseph Smith played a role in moving forward God's work as did prophets such as Moses and Noah. But he was a mortal man like any of the rest of us. Show more Show less
