Hi I'm Amanda

I grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I am a student at BYU and am about to leave on a mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a university student. Classes are hard, but I think that learning is one of the most important parts of life. I love the opportunity to learn and thrive at college. My hobbies are mostly based around music, I love to dance, I love to play the piano, but most of all I love to sing. Sharing my talents with others, or helping people in any way, is one of my greatest joys in life. I am also an avid sports fans. I can't play them myself, but I sure do love watching other people!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family of devout Mormons. As much as I sometimes wish I could dazzle everyone with an incredible conversion story, I am very grateful that I was born to parents who could raise me so strongly in the church. Every since I was a child I have believed in what the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints teaches. However, as I've grown older I have had it confirmed to me so much more strongly than I did as a small child. I have felt the truthfulness of it so incredibly strongly on so many occasions that I know it must be true. I always feel happy and content when I'm on my knees praying, on my bed studying the scriptures, or in church learning from the mouths of others. How could I have such an overwhelming sense of peace while doing these things if they were wrong? I know that this church is true not only from big life-changing moments, but from every day. Every day as I live my normal life the truthfulness of this gospel is proven to me every moment. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Lending a helping hand in church can often be hard and time consuming, but I can think of few things that are more rewarding. For the past few months I've had the special opportunity to serve my fellow women in my ward. I have loved it so much! I feel Heavenly Father's love for all of the women in my ward so strongly every time I prayed for them, and I learned how to adopt a little bit of his love. Putting away thoughts of yourself and focusing on those around you is such an extraordinary experience and one that I'm so grateful to have had. It opens your eyes so much to everyone around you, lets you have better relationships with them, and blesses your own life immeasurably.
