Hi I'm Blake Billings

I was born in Chicago. I love to sing. I love my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the second oldest of five children. I love music and the happiness it brings to everyone. I enjoy playing the piano and singing. I am a freshman in college, where I am studying to become a chemical engineer. I moved across the country in the middle of my junior year of high school. I love spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy baking and inventing in the kitchen. I love to dance in my own style, even though I know I'm not good at it. I enjoy making new friends and having fun with all different types of people.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a Mormon, but through my own experiences, I was able to decide for myself that a Mormon is what I want to be. I have felt the love of the Savior in my life. He is my King and Redeemer and can rescue me from any pit I may fall into in this life. He gives me strength and His love gets me through the trials of life. I have gained a desire to serve the Lord and to follow His example as well as I can each and every day. I know I am not perfect, but through Christ, I can grow to be more and more like Him. I love Christ as my Savior, Redeemer, and Brother. Through Him, I know I can live again in the presence of my Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I love participating in the chior at church or singing in sunday services so I can share my talents with the whole congregation. I also teach lessons to a class each sunday. I have the privilage of teaching other students who are my age who live around me in college. I also visit the homes of people each month to see how they are doing and see if there is anything I can do for them. I give service to whoever needs it or asks for it. This usually involves going with my father to help someone move in or out of a house.

Are Mormons Christians?

Blake Billings
Absolutely. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints are completely Christian. Jesus Christ is the center of everything we do and He is the one way we can go back to live with our Father again. He is our King, our Savior, and our Redeemer. Everything we do testifies of Him and His divinity. We know that He loves us and everthing He did on this earth for us to be able to one day be saved and brought into the kingdom of our Father. What is the Law of Chastity?

Blake Billings
The Law of Chastity is not having sexual relations outside the bonds of legal marriage. It means being completely faithful to your spouse before and during marriage. Being completely faithful to your spouse includes being totally dedicated to them in actions, thoughts, and emotions. The power that God has given us to create life is sacred and an amazing gift from God. He asks that we use it in the limitations He has set, and if we do that He promises happiness, peace, and more love within marriage from the trust and protection it gives. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Blake Billings
We believe that grace is central to everything here on the earth. Jesus Christ sacrificed Himself for us and paid the price for all our shortcomings and imperfections. There is nothing we can ever do to pay back the debt Christ has paid, but that doesn't mean we are to do nothing. Since Christ paid that debt, we owe Him everything. He asks that we follow Him and keep His commandments to the end, and He will make up the rest. Grace changes us to be more like the Savior. Grace just doesn't kick in at the end like something small. Grace is huge and it helps us every step of the way to change and become more like the Savior wants us to. We know that ultimately we can never be perfect on our own, but through the grace of Jesus Christ we can all be saved. Once we recognize what He did and what He continues to do for us everyday, we realize how much we have to do. We can never repay the Savior for what He did, but we need to do what He asks. Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Blake Billings
Not at all. We believe that all of God's children on the earth need help to get through this difficult journey here on. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints does work around the world to help as many people as we can. We believe that all people have their own agency to choose how they worship the Lord, and if they worship differently, it doesn't mean they don't deserve help from those who don't share their particular beliefs. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints sends out thousands of missionaries a year whose main purpose is to help people not of our faith. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Blake Billings
No. We worship God and His Son, Jesus Christ. They are the center of everything in the church and in the world. We believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet, just like Moses or Noah in the times of the bible, who all did the will of God to help His children on the earth and lead them back to Him. Joseph Smith was a man who followed the will of God and helped bring about His gospel on the earth. We are grateful and so happy because of the work Joseph Smith did that has helped all of us, but we worship the Father and His Beloved Son. Show more Show less
