Hi I'm Sarah

I was born and raised in the 'Dirty South'. I'm a college student and a runner; most importantly, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a BYU student majoring in Dietetics. My favorite things- aside from being a Mormon- are running, music, dogs, and food.. basically I'd be miserable without all of those things. I'm a huge adrenaline junkie and I love the outdoors. And.. I'm currently serving a full-time mission and I absolutely love it!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for many reasons. I was born in the church; my parents joined a few years before I was born. This gospel saved their marriage, it's the reason that I am here today. For a long time, a really long time, I lived off of my parents' testimonies. They knew the church was true, so I believed them. There was a time in my life though, when I no longer followed what my parents said. I decided to rebel, and that got me no where.. no where good anyway. I eventually came to the conclusion that I needed to find out for myself about the gospel. I read the scriptures, went to church, spoke with the missionaries and prayed, and I knew. I had an amazing feeling, and I became so happy. I still am! I know the gospel is true, I know the church is true. Once I made the decision to live by the church's standards and to do all that I can do to bring myself closer to my father in heaven, I have been so blessed. I know that as long as I follow the teaching's of this church, I will be blessed. That's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Growing up in Alabama I was in a very small congregation. Because of this, I had a few jobs to do in my church. I was able to be the chorister, be a nursery leader, and teach Sunday school to 4-7 years olds. I was so blessed to be able to do these things, they have helped me feel the importance of living my faith. When you have a 5 year old looking up to you, you want to be the best example that you can be. I was also the only member of this church, who came regularly that is, who attended my schools. Elementary school, middle school, and high school, I was the only one. I really believe that the reason I live my faith the way I do is because of the example I knew I needed to be. I was the only exposure most of these people would ever get to a Mormon. That's a lot of pressure and I will admit that I failed multiple times at being the person I should have been. Having those experiences has really motivated me to work on my shortcomings so that in the future, wherever I am, people will be able to look to me for that example of how Mormons live... so that they can see the difference in me.. the happiness that this gospel brings me. I also have the wonderful opportunity to live my faith by serving a mission for this amazing church.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

I absolutely believe that there is a prophet, like Moses, alive today. I know that God loves us just as much as He loved the children on earth in Moses' day and that we need guidance just like they did. He gives this guidance to us personally and through a living prophet, seer, and revelator. I know that Thomas S Monson is the man called of God to be the prophet today. I know this because I have studied the words of President Monson and I have turned to my Father in Heaven and asked Him if President Monson is a prophet, and I have felt Heavenly Father answer that prayer. In short, yes I believe; and I will follow him. Show more Show less
