Hi I'm Ray

Hi, I love living in Utah and things like skiing, backpacking, fishing, mountains, golfing & people. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am retired and 68 years old. I have a wife, 4 wonderful children and 14 grandchildren. I am a family man. I love being with my family. My wife and I also keep in contact with our sibblings and meet with them often. Family is wonderful I also love being outdoors. I enjoy skiing, golfing, backpacking, taking hikes, fly fishing, and just being out of doors. I am an avid jogger. It keeps me in shape. I run 3 to 5 miles 3 to 4 times a week. I have run over 13500 miles since 1993. I also love to keep my yard, garden, and fruit trees. It is satisfying to eat things you have grown and produced. My wife and I have served a mission for our church in Toronto Canada for two years. We loved being in Canada. We met people from all over the world. We have served another church mission in Iloilo Philippines for almost one year. We the Philippino people. This last two years we have really been involved in Family History. We will be serving another church mission in Maryland working with preserving historical records starting in September 2016 for 18 months.

Why I am a Mormon

As a youth I was not active in church (except for the sports program). In my early twenties, while serving in the military I decided I needed to know more about the church I belonged to. My wife (then my girl friend) sent me books about the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. As read and studied I felt the spirit. I had a number of questions about life that were answered. Like - What happens to people who have died and they did not have the opportunity learn about Jesus Christ or even hear about him? Is it fair that they didn't that opportunity? The restored Gospel of Jesus Christ answered these questions and many more. This Gospel is all about family which is most important in my life. Being a member of this church has made me a better husband and father. It brings peace to my life and strengthens me in hardships and times of trials. I am thankful to a Father in Heaven who loves us and His Son, Jesus Christ who lives and died for us. By living His commandments I and my family have been greatly blessed. We have avoided many of the pitfalls and tradgedies that many people have. Also, when the trials do come and they will, I know Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ will strengthen me and bless me so that I can endure and learn from those experiences. I am thankful for the Bible and the Book of Mormon that gives me guidence, direction, and peace of mind.

How I live my faith

In the past I have served the youth in my church. I keeps me young to associate with them. They also try to keep me informed and updated with all of this modern technology. I can share my love of life and family with them. Most of the youth have such a positive outlook on life. Some things we have done with the youth is to introduce them to careers and education. We have visited church sites in Salt Lake City and other places in the state. We do fun things such as swimming, wally ball, hiking, backpacking, golfing, fishing, and just being together for games and other things. I also serve in my church as a home teacher. We visit families to make sure things are going well for them. They have become such good and life time friends. We live in such a good neighborhood where most everyone cares about each other. Our church believes in perserving family history. This last three years we have worked extensively on our family history. It has been fun to work with the churches family search program (www.familysearch.org). Anyone can use it. You don't have to be a member to use this program. And what is great is that it is FREE!. I have loaded memories, photos, and stories about my parents, grandparents and more. My wife and I have also taught basic classes on how to use the Family Search Program.
