Hi I'm Jessica

I grew up in an LDS household, but found my own testimony through my personal trials. I know God is always here for me.

About Me

I love playing soccer and playing piano. Although, I currently play rugby after getting persuaded to try it out as a college student. I am the fifth of 9 kids in my family. I love my family more than anything, and always look forward to when I can see them next. I know that the church is true and I love it with all my heart. I can't wait to go out and serve the Lord.

Why I am a Mormon

I love this Gospel with all my heart, but it didn't start that way. I grew up in the church in a very active family, but I was always relying on what people told me was true. I went to church and fulfilled my callings faithfully, but never truly had to rely on the Lord and never truly knew it was true. I was diagnosed with cancer while I was in high school, and I was devastated. I lost faith and hope in everything. I didn't want to go through with the surgery, so I continually put it off. I had good friends and a family who helped me through everything. But, it was me that had to accept reality and understand that this wasn't going away no matter how much I wanted it to just disappear. I wanted to hide and never come out, but then I realized that there was a light at the end of the tunnel. I wasn't alone in this. I felt peace every time I prayed to my Savior. He became my best friend through it all. When no one else knew what to say, He was there, carrying me along the way. I have a strong testimony of the strength of my Savior and the love He has for each and every one of His children. We mean so much to Him and we need to do all we can to offer our lives to His service in all that do. We don't need to give up our lives, but rather live in a way that He would be pleased with. We must understand what it truly means to be a follower of Jesus Christ and how we can better keep His commandments. I have a strong desire to learn more and to be an influence of good to those around me. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that we can learn so much from his example. I know that out modern day prophets are who we can receive current revelation from in our daily lives. I know that if you read the Book of Mormon and sincerely desire for an answer if it is true, that you will receive it. You will know that what is being taught is true and that you can gain a stronger desire to do what's right. I know that I am here on this earth for a reason for good.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being a true example of Christ. I always try to do whats right, even when others around me are ridiculing me for it. Growing up, I was never surrounded by good values, and it was difficult at times to keep my standards high. But looking back, I am so glad that I was able to rely on my family and continue to grow spiritually surrounded by those others who constantly try to bring me down. Many times I was offered alcohol or drugs, or told to swear, but instead of easily giving in, I always look to the future. Where do I want to be in 10 years? I want a strong family who can rely on each other and I want to be an example of faith. I don't want to be that person who always followed the crowd and couldn't remember what happened the night before. I live in the present, look forward to the future, but never dwell too long on the past. I believe in change, and that anyone is able to become who they want to become. No one is stuck in a lifestyle-anyone can change and become one of God's children. I know there are people who want to change, but maybe don't have the opportunity to know that for themselves. Open your minds and your hearts to the Gospel, and maybe, just maybe, you'll find that same peace and happiness that I find each and everyday.
