Hi I'm Korby Melvin Siggard

I'm married with four children, two grand children and two more on the way, run marathons and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah. I lost the use of my right hand when I was a young man, but never let that stop me. I loved participating in sports. I was the head cheerleader at Skyline High School and competed in the State finals in diving and skiing. I served a full-time mission to Dublin, Ireland. I graduated from the University of Utah in Business finance. I also had the opportunity to go to Germany as a foreign exchange student and attend the University of Kiel. After the semester ended, I spent four months backpacking across Europe. I married my sweetheart Cherylin in August of 1985. We have four wonderful children and two grand children. Our oldest daughter was also a head cheerleader in high school and married Greg Nevers who she met at BYU. My son-in-law served a mission in Mexico and they were married in the temple and have two daughters named Adalyn and Elyse. My oldest son returned from a mission in Tennessee and is now married to Caroline Wilsher. My next son Skylar served a two year mission to Olongapo, Philippines. We have been fortunate to tour both missions. My youngest son Sam is a senior student body officer at Alta and will be leaving in July to serve a mission in Arcadia, California teaching in Manadrin Chinese. We live in Sandy, Utah. I have worked in the insurance industry for 29 years and currently manage litigation for the County governments. I have finished 20 marathons including qualifying and running the Boston Marathon.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I have no doubt as to the truthfulness of the gospel. I have learned that the only path to happiness is living the standards of the gospel. I have made my share of mistakes in my life and learning to apply the atonement in my life has helped me overcome many weaknesses. I do not just know the Savior lives, but have felt Him in my life. There is no greater joy than knowing we have a Heavenly Father that wants the best for us and if we just learn to trust in Him, we can find great happiness in the life. The gospel has brought so much joy to my family that it is hard to even put into words. My greatest joy is my family and the teachings of eternal families is the joy I find in the gospel. I have watched as the gospel has bound my family together in an eternal bond. I know that my children have turned out well because of the influence of the gospel in their lives. I'm a Mormon because i love my family and want to live with them and my Heavenly Father for eternity.

How I live my faith

I have loved serving in the church. I get so much more satisfaction in the callings I have had in the church than my career positions. I have spent most of my time in the church serving in the youth programs. My current position is the ward mission leader in our ward. I have really enjoyed this calling. I have served many years as a scout leader including the scout master. I served in Young Men presidencies as the president or counselor for over 15 years. Those callings were extremely rewarding. I also do a lot of volunteer work with the youth outside of church. I have coached basketball teams, soccer teams, and baseball.
