Hi I'm Rachel

I'm a Cali girl through and through. I'm a Math Ed Major. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I spent the first 13 years in my life growing up in good ol' California. I moved my 8th grade year to Provo, Utah, and it has made all the difference. I go to a university in Utah that's not BYU, and I am a Secondary Education major, and I plan on teaching high school Math. Maybe that makes me nerdy, but I really have a passion for teaching. I got my mission call the day after Christmas, which was the best Christmas gift I could have received because going on a mission has been a childhood dream. I'm so excited to serve, the wait is almost painful! I'm an outdoors kind of person. I love hiking, I like to run, I LOVE playing sports: basketball, soccer, frisbee, football, swimming. I played basketball for my high school as a center, even though I never thought I was really that tall (I'm only 5'9")! I love music, and despite me not being good at performing music, I would die without it. Music, I believe, is the universal language. It can move you without there being words, excited you or make you want to dance, even if the words are in a different language. I'm half Peruvian! My dad is from Lima, Peru, and is a convert to the church, and he is my hero. My mom has been a great helper and force in helping me through my life and reaching my goals.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I was blessed to grow up in the Savior's gospel and had many opportunities to gain my own testimony of it. During my teenage years, there were times that I had doubts about things regarding the church, but I decided that I would find out for myself by following the counsel that was given by today's prophets and the prophets of old in the scriptures. By so doing, I was able to gain very strong and personal testimonies of these things. I have had many experiences of which I can testify that this gospel has brought my happiness and joy. Nothing else that I have found can bring the same joy and purpose to life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to fulfill all the duties or callings I have been given. I try to reach out to others not of my faith and show them the love that I feel Christ would have given them. I received my mission call and will be leaving soon, and I will live my faith more fully there by serving my fellow brothers and sisters and sharing with them the good news, the gospel.
