Hi I'm Steffany

I'm 19 almost 20. I am an ex-college soccer player. Current college student. Soon-to-be missionary. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the youngest in my family, so I have had lots of examples of what to do and what not to do. It has shown me that nobody is perfect, and that family will always be there to love and support you. I enjoy music, keeping up with current fashion trends, and watching football with my Dad. I am currently going to school, but haven't decided on a major. After this semester I will be leaving to serve a full-time mission for the Church and will be laboring in the Portugal Lisbon Mission. I can't wait!

Why I am a Mormon

I have been raised to be a member of His Church, but it wasn't until I experienced my own conversion that I became full committed to living the gospel. Growing up I had many experiences where I was able to feel the spirit and know of the truthfulness of the gospel, but I had never really acted upon these experiences. What I mean is that I felt the spirit, but never prayed about these confirmations I was continuing to have. I kept failing to put 100% faith in the Lord and His gospel. This led me to turn away from the church through various times during my life, but deep in my heart I always yearned to leave the standards of the gospel and that's what kept me coming back. Throughout this year my faith has really been tested and now I can say that I have finally acted upon the promptings of the spirit. It first happened by being prompted to prepare to serve a mission. Once I had acted upon this prompting and started to read the scriptures with a purpose and a desire to know of it's truth. I received answers to my prayers, and it was then that I became converted. I came to the knowledge of the truth of the Book of Mormon, and that it was the will of the Lord for me to serve a mission. Shortly after that, our prophet Thomas S. Monson, announced that girls who wanted to serve missions could now serve at age 19. This announcement reaffirmed my feelings of serving a mission, and now I have a call to serve the people of Portugal. I know that this call is a calling from God and that the people of Portugal are being prepared right now to hear the gospel and have their hearts softened. I love His gospel and the true joy that it brings to my life.

How I live my faith

Every Sunday I attend all three hours of Church and try to participate as much as I can during the lessons. Besides that, I read my scriptures and pray every day. I pray to find answers to questions I am having and also to thank the Lord for all that I have been given. I find that when I pray to find answers to questions that most of the time I am able to receive those answers within the scriptures I am reading.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Steffany
The purpose of our life on Earth is to continually be gaining knowledge and endure to the end. Heavenly Father loves all people. Because of his love for us he has given us a way to be happy for an eternity. As long as we follow his plan on earth, by being baptized, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, continual repentance, and having Faith in Jesus and His atonement, we can one day recieve a precious gift of eternal life. One may ask, why is eternal life so precious? Because it is the opportunity to live in a state of everlasting happiness with Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and your family. You will also be able to rest from the stresses of mortal life. It's a glorious gift that will be given to us if we obey the commandments of our Heavenly Father. I imagine that if we endure to the end in this life (by doing the things described above) that Heavenly Father will greet his children with open arms saying, "Thanks daughter/son, you've made your Father proud." And what a joyous reunion that will be. I know that if we are obedient in this life we will be able to live with our Heavenly Father again. I know he is rooting each of us on just hoping that we will follow his way. I know that living the gospel of Jesus Christ brings so much joy to my life. I am so grateful to be a MORMON.
