Hi I'm Laura

I'm Canadian. My family is my favourite. I'm a 911 Operator. I wish I lived in the mountains and I'm so grateful to be a Mormon!

About Me

I was raised in a small prairie town in Alberta, Canada! I'm the second oldest of 6 kids, with 3 sisters and 2 brothers. I went to University and graduated in Emergency Communications and Response. I now work as a 9-1-1 Operator for Police. My favorite things are sitting around a campfire in the middle of no where, laughing so hard I can't breathe, soothing a baby to sleep, half court shots that swish for the win, driving to Montana pulling the tent trailer, singing the final note at the end of a theatre performance, quadding through the mountains, singing to the radio, jumping in the lake for the first time after winter, the perfect amount of snow to go sledding, when I accelerate quickly and have a perfect gear change, watching movies cuddled in my favorite blanket from Gramma, lights on the Christmas trees, birthdays, fireworks, amusement park rides, spending time with my family, going to the temple and EATING.

Why I am a Mormon

The gospel answers all of life's questions and leaves no room for second guessing, it just makes sense. I have prayed to know that the church is true and have got such a strong, comforting confirmation from the Spirit. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet, I know that the Priesthood has been restored and I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I find peace, protection and comfort knowing that I am a daughter of God, that He loves me and He knows me better than I know myself. Where ever I am worldwide, the church is the exact same! I can go anywhere in the world and know that I have an immediate support system, we are one huge happy family. I love my immediate family and I can't imagine ever being sperated from them; the gospel gives me the peace and I know that I can be with my family for eternity. The world is rapidly changing and it is becoming continuously harder to keep good standards and have high morals. My beliefs give me a sure, unchanging foundation to base my life on and help me raise my future family. My testimony helps me stand strong when the world around me is not. Most importantly, the gospel is what makes me happy, it is what puts a smile on my face and not just for a short time, but all day everyday. I know who I am, I know I have a purpose and I know that I am never alone.

How I live my faith

I try and show my faith by what I participate in and my attitude in all that I do. I think one of the best ways to show your love for our Heavenly Father is by being a good example to those around you. I always try to share the gospel when I can and to let others know how important this church is in my life. It affects every decision I make and comforts me through all my trials. I remain modest in my clothing, clean in my language and avoid any circumstances that may ask me to lower my standards. I find strength in attending Sunday meetings, weekly classes, family home evening and young single adult activities. I always pray and I read my scriptures as much as I can in order to remain close to my Savior. I served my full time mission in England and now try to look for opportunities to be a member missionary and share my testimony in word and deed! I try to help someone in someway every day and follow every prompting that I get from the spirit.
