Hi I'm Vashti

I grew up in Utah. I aspire to be a Marine Biologist. I love Musical Theatre. I am currently on a mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I graduated high school in 2011 and entered college with the dream of becoming a Marine Biologist. The problem was I was attending college in a land-locked state with no Marine Biology program. So I chose to major in Genetics and Biotechnology with a minor in Graphic Design. I come from a family of 5, I have two little sisters along with my parents and me. As a family we love to go camping. My sisters and I love to dance. We get it from our mom who is was on the BYU Ballroom Dance Team. All 5 of us are Mormon but my Grandpa is Catholic. I love my Grandpa so much and look up to him in so many ways. He also lives with us. This is our family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church. Honestly growing up I thought I had a strong testimony. But when I left for college I found myself making excuses. Staying in bed instead of going to church, I rarely read the scriptures, and my prayers were not at all consistent. I talked to God only when I needed Him. Which was fairly often because of my school schedule and work load but not daily. I began to think that the only reason I believed the things I did was because I was born into it. Things changed, however, after I was faced with a really hard trial. I found myself NEEDING the support from going to church, I NEEDED prayer, I NEEDED the scriptures, I NEEDED the gospel. It was then that I knew I had a testimony of my own. A testimony that no longer relied on the faith of my parents. I now know with all my heart that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true. Through prayer, and scripture study I have felt the spirit testify of its truthfulness. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. I have tested Moroni's promise (Moroni 10:3-5) and have found out for myself that this is the true church. Once you believe that everything else follows. If the Book of Mormon is true then Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, which means the church he established is truly Christ's church restored to the earth, THAT means that Thomas S. Monson is the current prophet for the whole world on this earth today, and so on. I want people to know that no matter how hard life gets they are never alone. Christ has been through everything we have ever or will ever go through. Multiply that by the number of people who live, have lived, or will live on the earth and you will get a glipse of the sacrifice that that was for us. This is the basis of my testimony, Christ knows us. The Book of Mormon provides a way for us to draw even closer to our Savior. I will forever be grateful for my life as a member of the Church.

How I live my faith

I don't just say I know is church is true. I have chosen to act. I am currently serving a full-time mission for the LDS church. I am 19 years old and devoting the next 18 months of my life in the service of the Lord. It was a decision I didn't make lightly, it took a lot of searching and prayer but I know with all my heart I am where I am supposed to be. It is amazing how the gospel helps people, how it changes them. I continue to be impressed by its effect on the lives of those I am meeting and teaching every day. As a missionary I represent the Lord and am the hands in His work. "This is my work and my glory to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man." I get to help Him do that every day I am so grateful for the opportunity.
