Hi I'm Seth

I'm the second in a family of six boys. I love to be outdoors. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I just finished my first year of college, studying math and physics. I enjoy backpacking deep into the mountains to more fully experience the great beauty of all of God's creations. My dad and I race sailboats together. I also enjoy playing a good tennis match, and spending lots of time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

Because its awesome! And because its true. I have seen many times in my own life and in the lives of others the real power that the Atonement of Jesus Christ has to heal people, to lift their burdens, and to help us all in our quest to become the best people that we can possibly become. This Gospel truly is a Gospel of Happiness.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving others. It is clear, if you read the Gospels, that Jesus Christ devoted all of His time to serving people. I seek to be like Him in all that I do. For the last six months, I have played the piano for our Church meetings for the congregation to sing hymns to. I have also helped individuals in my congregation by visiting them in their homes and helping through their struggles in life. In the community, I volunteered with an organization that helps lower income families build houses that they would not otherwise be able to afford. Soon I will soon be serving as a Missionary for the Church in Birmingham, England and in the surrounding areas, devoting 100% of my life to the ministry for the next two years.

Why did your church previously practice plural marriage (polygamy)?

Seth
We read in the Book of Mormon that God's rule is that every man should have only one wife, with the exception of if God commands polygamy at a certain time to "raise up seed." In the early days of our Church, God commanded many men to take more than one wife to help grow the numbers of the Church, and because if he did not have them do so, there would have been many women left husbandless, with no one to protect and provide for them. Are Mormons Christians?

Seth
Yes!!! The centerpiece of our Church, the motivation for everything that we do, is the atonement of Jesus Christ. Without it, we would be nowhere and we wouldn't be able to do anything. We would be damned and hopeless. But through the atonement of Jesus Christ we can be forgiven of our sins and slowly molded into the type of person that God wants us to be so that we can one day return to live with our Father in Heaven in happiness for all eternity.
