Hi I'm Mike Howe

Hi i'm mike, I grew up in st Louis Missouri, I'm preparing to serve the Lord as a full time missionary and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is mike, I was adopted when I was an infant by the best parents I could ask for. When I was born I had a defect called F.A.S which stands for Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. It effected when growing up. I was not expected to function or have the mental capacity of anyone older then a sixth grader. My right arm did not work as a toddler. After much prayer, my parents found an answer to these problems, I then started learning how to function correctly. I feel as if I was sparred by the Lord. I lived a completely normal life, I went to school, had a 4.0 GPA, started fighting at an MMA academy and have been invited to participate in the Golden Gloves, I stayed home and went to school at a local Jr college so that i could work to save up enough money for a two year mission. I have now left the MMA academy, resigned from the Golden Gloves and put everything aside so that I can serve the lord as a full time missionary. I have been blessed so much through out my life. I know that without a doubt that my Heavenly Father listens and answers prayers, that he sent his son Jesus Christ to live and set a perfect example to follow, he then was crucified on a cross, and he died for the sins of the world. John 15:12-13 says, "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you" our Savior Jesus Christ has a perfect love for each and everyone of us, I know this to be true, I know that he lives, amen

Why I am a Mormon

I've been a member of this church all my life, I've followed its teachings and done what I was supposed to. I never really thought about why I did, I just knew that it is the right thing to do. I know now that these guide lines that we follow have helped me become a greater person then what I be with out them. I understand the reason we don't smoke, drink, watch pornography, and don't have sex before marriage, or participate in anything that may be addictive or binding. It is not that we are bound by these standards, It is so that we can be free from harmful substances and things that may hold us back from fulfilling our true potential. About a year ago I had to make a choice weather or not I was going on a mission. I had $45 in my bank account and had barely any work. I knew I had to figure something out because a mission costs $10,000.00. I was at a lowly and desperate point in my life. I started praying and asking for guidance and answers on weather I was gonna be able to earn enough money for this mission. One morning I woke up and got out of bed and started pleading for answers. After a heart felt prayer I got off my knees and not even 5 min past when I got a call from my boss. He was asking me to come to work and offered me a promotion. With this promotion I not only got the hours I needed, I also doubled my income so that I could save $1,000.00 every month with careful budgeting. I worked long hours after school everyday and eventually made it to my goal of saving the $10,000.00 I needed to go on a mission. I am simply grateful to be a part of this church and have the gospel of Jesus Christ in my everyday life. I know that Christ lives and I know that he is with me every step of the way, I know that he is on my right hand and on my left and that his angles are there to bear me up. This is why I am a Mormon. Because I know that what I am taught at church every Sunday is the true word of God. This is my testimony to you, amen

How I live my faith

I am preparing to serve a mission, I go to a singles ward near my home, I love the people in my ward and look forward every Sunday to seeing them. I was called to serve as a ward missionary, my responsibilities are to simply go out and help the full time missionaries teach the people in this area, I go out with them at least once a week and do missionary work, we have had lots of fun tracking and teaching, we've had three baptisms in the past month. This is such a blessing to be able to go and serve. My other calling is to be the gospel principles teacher in the singles ward, I simply prepare a lesson each week or help others have the chance to prepare a lesson and teach it every week. This has given me the opportunity to become a better teacher which I am very grateful for. I absolutely the gospel and would give everything a have just to continue learning and growing in it.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Mike Howe
People often ask me " do all Mormons have to serve a mission?" and then they ask "do you at least get paid?" my answer is no, not all Mormons have to serve a mission, I volunteer and go wherever the lord sends me. then to answer the second question, I remind them that I was a volunteer and that I do not get paid, that I actually pay to go and serve. they usually are left in amazement and then start asking more questions that I am happy to answer which leads to a great conversation. Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Mike Howe
I am often asked "why do you have to pay 10% of your income to go to church?" I simply tell them that the lord gave us everything, why not give a little back? He doesn't ask much for what he's already given to us. Plus how great is it to be a part of financing his work? Show more Show less
