Hi I'm Ammon Olson

I'm from Alberta, Canada. I aspire to be a comic book writer. I'm a cat person. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm twenty years old, and hope to become a comic book writer. I'm a sucker for animals, in particular cats and hippos. I hate the cold, love the beach, and would probably live there all the time if it were summer year round. It's not, so I don't. There's nothing I like better than taking my dogs for a walk or going for a swim, and both cooking and eating food makes me very happy. I love board games, video games, comic books, superheroes, and basically anything nerdy, and love to learn about most anything. I want to write and draw comic books because that's the best way there is in the world to tell a story, and I love telling stories.

Why I am a Mormon

I love my religion. I feel like the emphasis in my life on God's love and appreciation for all life has been a powerful guiding force in my perspective. I tend to appreciate all the littlest things, try to feel empathy for everyone, and choose what I spend my time on very carefully, and for me this all ties back to the fact that God encourages our coming to understand everything and everyone around us, including ourselves, and not wasting any of our time on things that don't matter to us. The guidelines laid out by the church for a proper lifestyle have opened my mind and given me so much room to not be restricted by the ways of the world that I've become more myself than I would've had I not been a member.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a two-year, Spanish speaking mission in Georgia, where I can share the joy of the gospel with others. Membership in this church is so often portrayed and interpreted as an imprisoning contract, but really it's a set of useful guidelines of how to live your life to achieve your maximum potential. The principles taught here have already helped me live the fullest, happiest life I can imagine for myself, and I not only never find myself bored by the things that I do, but look as each new day as a continuation of the wonder inherent in the last. The peace of mind that comes from communication with God, both by his responses to our prayers in the form of the reassuring feelings of the Holy Ghost, which are very important to someone as stressed out as I naturally am, and by studying the words of the prophets in the scriptures, is indispensable, and allows me to move forward in life with a confidence that I will be able to grow from anything I go through.
