Hi I'm Sister Shaylona Barnes

I am a sister, an aunt, a daughter, a friend, and I am a mormon missionary. I love to work and play, and I love my Heavenly Father

About Me

I am currently serving a mission in Richmond Virginia. But I am a middle child from a large family of eight children. I was going to college when I decided to serve a mission which I am very excited about. I like having a busy schedule or I have a bad habit of procrastinating. I love singing and dancing and having a social life. I enjoy making new friends and I try to include everyone because I know what it is like to be left out. I am still learning about and developing my talents and as I continue to do so I make lots of friends and I try to help each of them as they have helped me develop my talents. I know this sounds odd but I have discovered over the past few years that I love to work and I always try to do my best and to work hard. in doing this I have done well and it has helped me to realize that what ever I decide to major in in college I will succeed at. because I am determined and I have the leadership qualities that everyone is looking for. a few months ago I was in a really bad car accident, (I should have been killed) it was that day that I realized I had everything I ever wanted so why keep trying for more. I had just gotten a second job I was going to school things were financially tight but some how I had over looked the fact that I had family and friends that cared about me and I had a loving Heavenly Father who protected me. I walked away from that accident with out a scratch or fear in my body. What a blessing it was to have someone watching out for me.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that the doctrine is true. I know that I have a loving Heavenly Father and a loving brother (Jusus Christ) and I want to do everything that I can to make sure that they are proud of me. I also want to do everything I can so that I can be with them again. I want to be with my family for eternity and I know that I can through living this gospel and doing my best in everything I do. several years ago my little sisters mission here on earth was completed as she is no longer with us, the gospel has given me comfort in knowing that I can be with her and the rest of my family again. It gives me hope just as I hope it gives hope to everyone, I hope that it will change their lives as it continually changes mine. I love this gospel, I know that I would be lost with out it. I know that I would not care for my family as I do, if it was not for what I have learned in this gospel. It is a perfect and forgiving gospel. In a world that has so much going on,is so chaotic, is so unstable, is so dark at moments when we need light, the gospel is so organized, calm, peaceful, stable and it gives me the light to carry on to keep going through the times that seem never ending and to hard to handle. My loving Savior lifts the burden when it is to hard for me and knowing that he does that every time is amazing to me. He is the light of the world and as a Mormon I have learned that by fallowing him he sheds a little of that light on me for others to see and they do see it. they see that if he is there for me he can be there for them in their times of need.

How I live my faith

I always look for ways to serve others. some things I dont like to do but when I do them I feel joy and peace knowing that I did something for that person that they couldn't do or they just needed help doing. another way I try to live my faith is when I am at work I always try to make sure that my co workers or even my boss doesnt need anything through out my shift or at the close of my shift. I try to make sure they know that I dont judge them. but I love them for who they are and I respect them for that. through doing this they in return dont judge me and they respect me they look up to me and they become my best friends. I continually try to remind my self of the savior and what he did well here on earth. I then try to emulate Him and His teachings in everything I do and say. Each day I pray that my loving Heavenly Father will bless me that I may follow him and share with others what I know, that I may love as he does and that I will help others come to Christ. I try my best every minute of every day to live what I believe and to be who He created me to be.
