Hi I'm Johannah

I'm a born and raised Texan. I love dogs and cacti. I'm passionate about human rights and civil liberties. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a college student studying sociology and policy. I have two amazing parents and two little brothers. I was raised in the Church, and from a young age, my parents taught me to be independent and to think for myself. I really care about social issues and my goal is to one day fight for policies that protect women, marginalized groups, the earth, and animals. I love to read, and memoirs are my guilty pleasure. I enjoy reading so much, but I rarely find the time to just sit and read for leisure. I believe that practicing kindness and tolerance is what can make you truly happy.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because, although I was raised in the church, my testimony of Jesus Christ and His gospel is the most important building block in my life. Through trials and tribulations, knowing that Jesus Christ knows exactly what I'm going through because of His atonement helps me through everything. Without the gospel, I don't know who I would be. His gospel has taught me that I need to be loving and open minded to all, because I don't know what consequences my actions can have on others. His gospel has instilled in me a love of my fellow men. His gospel makes it possible for my family, the single most important thing in my life, to be together forever. I'm a Mormon because through Him, anything is possible.

How I live my faith

Before going off to college, I was very involved in my youth group and with the young women in my congregation. It's a little harder to live my faith after moving away from home and living on my own. I do my best to read my scriptures and pray every single day, and I make church attendance on Sundays a priority.
