Hi I'm Elaine

I live in England, I am a mother, a grandmother, and I am deaf since birth, I am a Mormon.

About Me

hello my name is Elaine, I have four grown sons and two grandchildren, I love animals, and have a cat, I like to paint with watercolours, and to draw with pen and inks, I also enjoy other crafts such as sewing. I joined The Church in 1978. I've worked as a cleaner in various retail outlets, and in a doctors surgery for most of my working life, and I am now retired.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a Mormon in 1978 when I had been experiencing lots of problems and was very unhappy. I felt instinctively to pray to God. I asked, please God if you are there help me. In an instant I felt great joy and hope. Over the next few days my faith in God grew and soon two Missionaries from the Mormon Church knocked on my door, and as I listened to them, I felt that same joy that I'd felt after asking God for help. I knew that the church that the missionaries belonged to was the Lords church ,because He had directed His missionaries to me, I am happy and grateful to be a member of His church.

How I live my faith

I like to help others and there is plenty of opportunity to do this even though I have painful joints and muscles now, I still like to do my visiting teaching, this is visiting those women that have been assigned to me by our branch womans leader, and making sure they are ok and remembered, I have a lovely sister companion who is also a member. We try to visit with our assigned ladies each month. I also serve as a teacher in our womans class on Sundays once a month or when given an assignment, I also offer service as baby sitter or mothers helper, help in my community, and generally try to be a good example of a christian at all times.

What do Mormons believe happens to us after we die? What do Mormons believe about life after death?

death is not the end of us our spirit will go back to the spirit world where we will learn more about God and progress in our intelligence, we also may be with loved ones who have passed on, sometime after death we will be resurrected, our bodies and our spirit will be together again, because Jesus Christ was resurrected, so shall all of us be resurrected. Do Mormons only help Mormons?

We help others who are in need whether Mormon or not in fact much of the service we provide is for non mormon people we send a lot of aid to other countries in need of humanitarian aid, and all of our missionaries who serve through the world give all of their service to non Mormons. How can I know Mormonism is true?

Pray sincerely, you will also need to quietly contemplate, listen for an answer to your sincere prayers the answer will not often come in spoken words but as inspiration, and a feeling of peace and assurance. Show more Show less
