Hi I'm Andrew

Born in Wales, lived in Australia & New Zealand. I'm happily married, a father of 3, and G'father to 1. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Wales but my parents emigarated to Australia when I was 1, and then at age 14-15 we moved to New Zealand. We lived in the middle of the North Island in a town called Hamilton, near the Mormon Temple there. We moved back when I was 16-17. I served a mission from age18-20 and then went to medical school, I now work as a GP and as Treasurer of the British Medical Association (BMA). I collect Egyptian Amulets and "future antiques". The thing I love most is spending time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, commonly called the Mormon Church because I believe it to be the restored church of Jesus Christ, the same church as He established when He lived and taught on the earth 2000 years ago. I have a sure knowledge of the Divinity of Jesus Christ as the living Son of God and as my personal Saviour who came to earth to teach us the gospel and then lived in such a way as to show us how to live and then died for us so that we could return to our Father in Heaven. I have felt His love and influence in my life, I have felt the Spirit of God, or the Holy Ghost testify to my heart that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I am a member of the church because I want to be a disciple of the Saviour Jesus Christ. I have felt His love and influence in my life. I have seen and experienced the joy and peace the gospel brings to my family as compared to what the perceived wisdom of the world would advise. I know Him to be the Saviour of the World, who died for us so that we might live again. I have lived what He has taught and know it to be of God. I am a member of the church because I want to be a better follower, a better disciple of the Saviour Jesus Christ, because I have read both the Bible and the Book of Mormon, both containing the words of God, both testaments to the divine nature of Jesus, both seeking to invite all to come un to Christ.

How I live my faith

I currently work in my church as a "Stake President" which means I preside or watch over 8 seperate congregations (we call them Wards) and support the local leaders, for example each wards Bishop, in caring for our members. We feel it important not only to help each of our members with their spiritual needs but we also feel that Jesus Christ commanded us to care for each others temporal needs too. This means that we assist the members of the church to find or improve their employment and their education, as well as caring for their emotional and spiritual needs. My main role is to teach people the gospel, to help them find the joy and peace the gospel can bring into their lives and to feel the love of the Saviour. I get to teach all age groups and all size of classes from individual counselling and support, to our stake conference where we have 500-600 members attend our conference weekend. Each week we spend time as a family, usually on a Monday night in what we call in the church our "Family Home Evening". This is basically a time where all the family members come together to chat, to teach each other and to learn the teachings of Christ. We also use this time to see what each family member needs, or what concerns we might have and how we can resolve them together. We also use this time just to simply have the time to enjoy each others company. Families are so very important in the church and so we feel this dedicated time each week is important in helping us focus on the family.
