Hi I'm Ron

I was born in "supernatural" British Columbia, Canada. I'm an accountant by trade and a college instructor. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband and father of four children, two boys and two girls. I am a licensed private pilot. I trained on Cessna 172's in the late 1970s. I was an Air Cadet in my youth and have always loved flying. I am a commissioned officer in the Canadian Armed Forces. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics, and a Licentiate-in-Accounting. I packed up my wife and children and moved to American Fork, Utah while I attended university working towards a Master's degree in Linguistics specializing in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL). I have more than 20 years' experience teaching Accounting, Computers and other business courses at the college level. I have had a camera since age 10 and still enjoy photography. I am an Amateur Radio Operator (HAM) since 2008. I travelled Europe in the late 1970s, with a pack on my back, to see where my father was born and to meet relatives for the first time.

Why I am a Mormon

I was given a book of Mormon and invited to attend church services by a co-worker. After the sacrament service, I was weeping like a baby. I asked my friend what was going on. He promptly said that it the Holy Ghost witnessing to me that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was the true church and that I had come home. The feeling of peace and serenity was overwhelming. I really truly felt that I had come home. I met with the missionaries and was baptized within a month--an action I cherish to this day. I know that Prophet Joseph Smith was the instrument in God's hands to restore the church to the earth as it was when Jesus walked the earth. I know that we are led by a prophet, Thomas S. Monson, called of God to lead us in these latter days. I had the pleasure to visit Palmyra New York in July to stand in the room where the Prophet Joseph was visited by the Angel Moroni, the Sacred Grove on the Smith farm where Joseph saw two personages, God the Father and his son Jesus Christ. God the Father spoke to him calling him by name, telling him that he was chosen to restore the gospel and the Church of Jesus Christ to the earth. IBeing in the grove was like living the hymn Joseph Smith's First Prayer [Hymn #26]. "Bees were humming, sweet birds singing, Music ringing thru the grove". It was a wonderful experience I long to repeat. I know with all my heart and without an ion of doubt that this is true. I say this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

Currently, I teach Sunday School classes for youth and adults. I have had many callings, including Second Counselor to the Bishop. I am a home teacher visiting members on behalf of the Bishop. I have served as a Ward Missionary, Custodian of the church facilities, nursery leader, cub master, scout leader, group committee chair, assistant executive secretary, membership clerk, Primary teacher, Sunday School President, and Family History Centre consultant. I do genealogy and attend the temple on a regular basis doing the work for our ancestors. We observe "Family Home Evening" -- (Monday evenings are set aside for family fun, instruction and worship).
