Hi I'm Cara

I am a sophomore in college, traveler, and book-worm. I am serving a mission in Korea. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am studying Communications at BYU-Idaho and love learning about the way people work. I am also Floral Design minor, because I can never get enough of flowers. I am a dancer, a photographer, a lover of words and music, a self-declared blogger and a chef-in-training. After spending a month of my summer building a school in Kenya, I found place inside me that loved to travel. I had a love for these people I had never met, cultures I had never experiences, and places I had never seen. I cannot get enough of this beautiful world. So I take pictures of it. I always have my camera and am constantly snapping a photo of this or that. I have thousands of pictures of the States, countries, and people I have seen and loved. I believe in adventuring. No matter where you are at...even the tiny town of Rexburg, Idaho... there is some magic to be found. Grab your bike, your best friend, a couple bucks and head to the farmer's market. Take in the college bands playing on campus. Soak up all the happiness the world has to offer. I love sunshine days and days with rain. I am optimistic...or I try to be. I work on that everyday. I belive in being a great many things. Music is my happy place. Whether I am jamming out in my car on some abandoned road or dancing in my kitchen, I am always at home with music. From country to classical and everything in between, I love it. Notes and lyrics express feelings better than simple words ever could. I am currently serving as a missionary in Seoul, Korea.

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to be born into a loving family who are strong members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Although I have never known any other life, I know the difference the gospel makes in my life. I have spent hours on my knees and in the scriptures. And I have come to know my Savior. I know He lives. He is our Redeemer and our Brother. I am grateful for the comfort that knowledge gives. The scriptures speak to a place in my soul that only the word of the Lord could...both the Bible and the Book of Mormon. Our gospel gives me confidence, strength, and peace. Even when life seems to be falling apart, I know that my Father in Heaven is just a prayer away. It lets me be fearless. When the storms and trials come, I am held fast by the anchor of my Savior in the safe harbor of the gospel. Jesus Christ suffered for my sins, and I have felt the healing power of that atonement. He gave me the ability to change and become better. Because of that, I want to follow Him. That is why I chose to serve a mission. That is what I want to share with others. And that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I love to be there for people. Serving others makes me happy. And that is what our gospel is all about. I try my best to live and love as the Savior taught. In my life, I have found that a simple act of kindness is all it takes to influence someone's life. One moment out of my day could be exactly what someone else needed in theirs. We are taught that God answers the prayers of others through us, and I am grateful for any chance I have to be on the Lord's errand. I am preparing to serve a mission for the LDS Church to Korea. I leave in March and couldn’t be more excited! As a missionary, I have the opportunity to focus on sharing our message...a message of Christ, of forever families, of second chances, and of love.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Cara
Just as the New Testament doesn't diminish the sanctity of the Old Testament, the Book of Mormon does not lessen the importance of the Bible. Rather, it inhances it. We believe the Bible to be the word of God. We read it and learn from it. We love the Bible. Many of my favorite stories and inspiring passages come from the Bible...espcially Kings, Romans, and the Four Gospels. The Bible testifies of Christ our Savior, and it is in His footsteps we want to follow. Show more Show less
