Hi I'm Elder McKell

I am serving a full time mission for my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have tried to live life to the fullest. That is why I am an adrenaline junkie. Doing slightly risky things for the thrill of it is something i enjoy quite a bit. In school I was always involved in some kind of sport. I did Track and Field, Football, Basketball, and a few others. But my favorite has always been Soccer. I've always been very fast as a kid I would wear myself out running back and forth and back and forth down the field. But sports isn't thing only thing I have enjoyed in my life so far. Music is one of best things in my life. In middle school and junior high I played the cello for the school orchestra. Outside of school I taught myself to play other instruments including the piano, guitar, bass guitar, and a few others. Art isn't one of my fortes but I think I have pretty good taste. I could spend a good portion of my time wandering around an art museum. I can sculpt a little but nothing compared to my grandfather who is an art major, retired high school art/ceramics teacher. he makes me look like a kid finger painting. But first and foremost I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and I love it with all my heart.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into an LDS family so being Mormon was just a part of my life. I didn't take it for granted but when I was young I don't think I realized how great it really was. In the last few years I have finally started to see what the church really means to me. In the LDS church you can be born a member but still not be converted to the church. That is something we all have to do for ourselves and I'm just starting to understand my role and duty as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I know what the gospel means to me and the love and peace it brings to me. I want all people to have the chance to feel what I feel and to know what I know. I still have much to learn about my Savior but I know that he loves me and watches out for me everyday. For that I will be forever in his debt.

How I live my faith

I am going to serve a full-time mission for my church. I will spend 2 years away from home to live somewhere else and everyday I will go from door to door sharing my beliefs in hopes that I can bring others to the knowledge of the great and limitless love of my Savior, Jesus Christ. Some people ask why. Why would I spend 2 years away from family and friends and pay for all of my needs just to share the principles and doctrines of this church? My answer to that is because it is true. There is nothing else on this earth like it. If I was asked to spend an entire lifetime doing what I am about to do I would gladly accept. I'm not perfect in any way. I do my best and I know that as long as I do that it will be enough.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Elder McKell
In no way or form do we worship Joseph Smith. He was a great man with tremendous faith. He was an instrument in the Lord's hands. He was commanded by our Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ to restore Christ's church on the earth again. We recognize him to be a prophet of God but beyond that he was a simple man who trusted in God and was willing to do anything to prove that. He was killed for his faith and we have great respect for his sacrifice. Show more Show less
