Hi I'm Alicia

I'm a teacher, I enjoy mountain biking with my husband, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a rural town in a large family. My dad was the music teacher so my six siblings and I all learned to play an instrument. I now enjoy living in the city and teaching fourth grade in a bilingual, Spanish class. I give my all to my school children during the year. Then I enjoy the summer months finding new ideas for the next school year, mountain biking with my husband, hiking with friends, and spending time with extended family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints when I was eight years old because I had a child's faith in what my parents taught me. However I'm a Mormon today because of the experiences I have had since then. When I was in high school I started to read the Bible and Book of Mormon for myself. As I read and prayed, I Iearned more about Jesus Christ and His gospel. What I learned in connection with what I felt helped my faith and beliefs to become my own rather than just a family tradition. Over the years my faith has grown with continued study, prayer, and even trials. I know that God is my Father, and that Jesus Christ is my Savior. Through Chirst's sacrifice I can be forgiven of my mistakes and be a better person so I can in turn help others find Him. I also know that He has restored His church today as it was when He was on the Earth. This knowledge gives me both happiness and confidence to continue to live my faith in a world where so many other things are unsure.

How I live my faith

Living my faith helps me to have better days. Spending time praying and studing the scriptures helps me to be in the right mind set so that I can better handle what come up in the course of my day. It also helps me to recognize opportunities to serve others. On Sundays I also get to spend time teaching the children of our congregation about the gospel of Jesus Christ. An important part of my relationship with my husband involves sharing feelings and thoughts about the gospel and serving together in the church.
