Hi I'm Lamar R.

I'm a Country Boy, I'm a Redneck, I'm a Firefighter and I'm Mormon!

About Me

I was raised in a small town called Lapoint Utah. I like to ride horses, hang out with friends, work on classic cars, and Love to go to car shows. I Love classic cars, and muscle cars. I'm a Ford guy. I'm on a volunteer fire department and I LOVE it! I'm currently serving a mission in Norway and absolutely love it! I'm the oldest of 2 sisters and 2 brothers. I love to help others and have a great time! I've learned Norwegian while living here in Norway and it's great! =) Norway is extremely beautiful!

Why I am a Mormon

Having been born into The Church I had to decide for myself whether or not it was true. Through reading the Book of Mormon, Prayer and attending Church I was able to come to the conclusion that this is God's true Church again established on the earth through the prophet Joseph Smith. I am inexplicably grateful for this Gospel, for the comfort that it brings to me, and the blessing that I receive from living it. I am extremely grateful to be serving a mission for the Lord, and spreading the truth and happiness that comes from living the way that Jesus Christ and God want us to.

How I live my faith

I always strive to be a good example to others and do what Jesus Christ would do. I do my best to learn the Gospel of Jesus Christ and teach it to other people so that they can enjoy the same blessings that I experience. I strengthen my faith in Jesus Christ and God by reading from the Scriptures daily, Prayer, and keeping the commandments.

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

Lamar R.
God is our loving Heavenly Father, and because he loves us all so much he wants it to be possible for all his children to live with him again. In the New Testament we learn that ''Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.'' (John 3:5) This means that everyone must be baptized in order to be able to live with God again. Throughout time there has been many people that have lived on the earth without the opportunity to learn about Jesus Christ, and the importance of Baptism. It would simply not be fair for those who did not have a chance to accept baptism to be denied their chance to live again with their Heavenly Father. That is why God has given us the opportunity to help those that were not baptized while living on the earth. Since a body is required for the act of baptism, God allows worthy members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to preform proxy baptisms, or baptisms for the dead. A living person is baptized on behalf of a dead person, acting as a proxy. This does not mean that the person for which the baptism is preformed has been forced in any way. This simply means that the person now has the opportunity to accept this baptism as if it was their own. I know that this is true and I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to help others that were not able to help themselves. Show more Show less
