Hi I'm Patrick

Born and raised in Portland, OR. Currently a full time missionary in the Japan Tokyo mission.

About Me

I grew up in Portland, Oregon, and did the normal things growing up. I spent most of my time hanging out with my friends and having fun. After High School I attended BYU for a couple years where I studied various sciences such as Biology, Physics, and Economics. I sill don't know what to major in when I return. I love playing games of all sorts. Sports, board games, card games, and video games. I can get a bit competitive, but the real reason I play these games is because they bring people with similar interests together and offer fun challenges. I also love listening to music. Some of my favorite bands are Brand New, The Airborne Toxic Event, Emery, and many others. No matter what mood I'm in, there is something I can listen to. Often music is how I release any tension or frustration so I can always have a positive attitude around others. I decided to become a missionary for the Church and am currently serving in the Japan Tokyo mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and baptized at the age of 8, but as I became more independent I finally started to realize how important the church actually was. This church lets me know that I have a purpose here on earth and it teaches how to reach your potential and find a higher level of happiness. I am grateful for the knowledge of Christ and his Atonement that the church has provided me with. Through Christ and the Atonement all mankind can be cleansed of their guilt and pain.

How I live my faith

Growing up a lot of my friends weren't members of the church. Once we were older this meant that I couldn't do a lot of the things they started to be interested in such as drinking alcohol. While I didn't drink I was still able to stay close friends with them and act as an example. As a gamer, I have belonged to various groups of people who I share similar interests with and play games with. Many of these people don't tend to be too serious about religion but I was never shy about saying I belonged to the church. They respected the fact I didn't do things like swear and they supported my decision to quit gaming for a couple years in order to become a misisonary. I have had several callings in the church, such as being a home teacher, a primary teacher for 5 year olds, and I am currently serving a full time proselyting mission in Japan where I share my faith with people who are interested and also teach English to the community for free.
